      Caffeine

      Today I woke up, fixed a huge coffee, and took it to school with me. I had class. It was one hourt. I left class. I got back. 2 hours later I was on my way to sleep. I saw a spoon. There WAS a spoon!
      Enough for structural monotony as regards sentences. Point is, this has worked for me the past three times I've tried it, and all within the span of a week. I found that if I sleep regularly, about 6-8 hours, wake for 2-3 hours - during which I consume copious amounts of caffeine - and then crash, I instantly catapault into teh pre-lucid state. Today, for instance, I was almost asleep when visuals began playing around. It wasnt long before I was holding a spoon, tilting it just slightly and watching gold-flecked water move in the basin. I tested the physics of the water during the tilt, and it appeared to be every bit as real as I've ever seen in real life. nice thing was, I wasnt trying to control any of it, as in, I was in no danger of the dream breaking up. I was also at this time aware of my sleeping body, so it had this weird OBE element to it as well.
      Anyone else tried the caffeine/sleep method? I know it works on my end, and I'll continue it, keeping it as my badge of lucid honor...I HAVE THE KEY!

      Absolutely! This has always worked for me...but since I've been co-oping these last three months I haven't been able to nap during the day so it hasn't happened in awhile. Classes start again Sept 22, yay!

      I think the caffeine does a great job of keeping your mind active and more aware in your dreams though it takes alot longer to fall asleep. I don't like coffee and take caffeine pills everyday (80mg total) and would nap after being awake for like 2-3 hours like you and that was when I would have my most intense OBE-like lucid dreams. I always had total control, everything has crystal clear, felt completely present and definitely aware of my sleeping body like you were. I want those LDs back, not this semi-lucid crap I've been having lately from WILDs and DILDs.

      Caffeine is awesome for inducing LDs!

      Straight up this junk works! I used ephedrine to get this same effect as well, although it usually just gave me sleep paralysis, but I actually DID get an OBE off ephedrine once...I floated through teh ceiling and saw all types of dust, dead bugs, nails, and plaster. Only thing is, I got stuck, in the ceiling, after having floated through the ceiling FAN without a scratch when I should have been ripped to shreds. You tell me.

      Yeah actually I don't know if it was the caffeine or the ephedra or the combination of the two (b/c what I was taking had both) but I defnitely had some crazy LDs and one OBE-like LD but I know it wasnt an OBE. I'd be interested in learning how these drugs affect your sleep cycle...like if they just make you alot more alert or aware while dreaming and that's what is causing the LDs or if it is something more.

      btw are you still taking ephedrine?

      Caffeine pills are absolutely not illegal but ephedrine is illegal now in the US, don't know about elsewhere. And I don't sugar would have an effect.
