Fainting hands in my dream . . .

      Hi,

First of all, I am new here but it sure looks like a great place for me!
After several months of trying, I DID succeed in looking at my hands during a dream last night. The moment I looked at them, near my face, they seemed just as usual. But when I moved my hands further away I saw my fingers starting to faint. When I had them at the hight of my upperleg I saw my fingers were just little stumps! When I held them more closely to my face, the re-appeared again!!
It was a great experience for me and I was VERY excited about this experience Because of the excitement I felt that my dream was ending.
I have some questions about this: are there any other people who have any kind of experience with looking at their hands during dreamtime? Or is it possible to look at your feet or any other part also? How can I remain in the dreamstate, do I have to avoid to much excitement?

      Many thanks!

Yea, I also have that problem, I get too exited or whatever and wake up. But one thing that I've tested(only once though) is the technique called "Dream spinning". I don't know if you have heard about it, but it's perhaps the most common trick to stay in the dream.
What you do when you are dreamspinning is to close your eyes and spin around just like if you were a little kid. Remember to continue thinking "This is only a dream!" when you spin around, cuz when u have spinned around a little and open your eyes, u may be in a complete different location and some people can lose lucidity here and just follow the dream where it takes you again.

I think dream spinning is great, but it doesn't work for everybody. I don't know if you did this in your dream, but another tip is to look at your hands closely and really koncentrate on them. Also try to scream "I want to reamin in this dream! I know this is a dream and I want to remain here! Rise lucidity level!". Or something like that..

      Good luck and have fun!
      Dreams are cool.. : )

Lol, I made a post about this exact thing. Its about my second Lucid dream (after joining here ) And I talk about how my fingers were stumps
God, grant me the courage the change the things I can, the serenity to accept the things I can't, and the wisdom to know the difference...

Looking at your hands is a reality check, so my guess would be that it is pretty common that something's not quite right with them.
I actually used the RC to prove to myself I'm lucid in my second Lucid Moment (that's when you're lucid for maybe 5-15 seconds). My fingers weren't stumps actually, but instead were all blurry as if there was no sharp border between them and the sourrounding air.

Does this apply to all other parts of the body or just hands?
      Like maybe feet or something?

When I reality check, if I don't have any text around, I wave my hands around. The first time I lded, I become lucid by waving my sister down, but my hands kept changing a lot, so I figured looking at my hands is fine for an rc.

Holding your hands infront of your face i the dream and then quickly take a peek around you and then look back at the hands in front of you makes for me my dream freeze frame.
Its an old trick carlos castaneda uses in his dreams, for me it works.

Yes u can look at all body parts if you want in a dream.

      Hi LucidApple,
My expereince was that the bigger the distance, the bigger the distortion. Does this also apply to you? If this is true, then I must sit down or so before I can see my feet . . . 8)

My fingers are like lightning rods...

I see my hands all the time in my dreams. Often, silvery blue energy comes from my fingers (like lightning, but more like thin streams of watery light) usually to heal a much older or much younger person, to "fix" something (like a broken object). Strange, but the overall look of this energy NEVER changes (even over many years of such dreams).

There HAVE been times (ONLY when in semi-wakefulness) where my feet seemed much farther from my body than usual (even growing FARTHER away ala Alice In Wonderland), but only when lying down.
Only you can interpret your dream as you are the only one with your mind.

      2nd dream with RC

This morning I had again 2 LDs and in the last one I checked my hands again. Now the distortion was different: the upper part of my fingers were much thicker than the rest of my finger. This RC convinced me again that I was dreaming, but because of the excitement of this I woke up again I was feeling that this was gonna happen, but I was not able to stop this.

The dream was in the morning and I was probably sleeping much lighter than at nighttime, maybe that is why I was more easily awakened now.

for some reason....when i was a kid, whenever i would have an LD and get excited, i would think of smoking....i dont smoke, i guess i just relate smoking to cool, calm and collected. 8) try it....i havent had any recent LD's so i havent been able to refine the technique, but you should give it a shot.
