How do I know that lucid dreaming won't screw me over?

Hello. atm I don't dream much at all, and i presume this is because i get limited sleep, and i tend to dream only when i am getting too much sleep.

anyways, how do i know that lucid dreaming won't give me vivid experiences where "anything could happen" and it turns into nasty or shocking experiences.

Also, does anybody experience fantastical or magical worlds when they have lucid dreams? such as a utopian meadow full of sunlight, fairies and soothing music. that would be sweet. im serious though, do you?

Because it's all in your head, if you get a lucid dream and you have no fear and enjoy it, then you won't have shocking, nasty, experiences.

But if you go into a dream negatively, and scared of what could happen, then your brain senses that and it put's your " thoughts " into your dreams.

I've had my 2nd lucid last night, and it was awesome, even though it was short.!. =D

yeah what he said. If you think about negative things and start lucid dreaming... well guess what, those thoughts will turn into negative images.

Unless your a negative and nasty person in real life, then you shouldn't get any negative lucid dreams. Even if your scared of them. Your Sub Conscious will only give you negative dreams if you yourself are a negative person.

Even if you do get a negative dream in a lucid dream.

Well guess what, its a lucid dream, which means your awake and aware of whats going on. So even if you do see negative images and such, you will know that its just a dream and there's nothing to fear. So just laugh it off and ask your SC for something better.

Actually you dream about 4 times a night if you sleep for 8 hours. You just dont remember it. Same for everyone really.

Just remember it isnt real. So what if you see crazy images and have shocking feelings. Understand that that is all they are, feelings and thoughts. Thoughts are controllable.

I pray for nightmares because its a rush and theres no real consequences. I keep a flashlight by my bed so if I am really still terrified when I wake up I at least have some light.

I completely control my lucids. They cant get scary because I don't wish
them to. I can be in any kind of world that I want to conjure up as well.

In one lucid dream I had about 6 months back I was flying over an amazingly beautiful world. it was covered it crystal clear water and spotted with variously shaped islands that were covered in stunningly purple trees. There were waterfalls flowing from the sky. And there seemed to be a soothing music playing that just encompassed the world.

Those are the mornings when I absolutely hate my alarm with a passion.

I noticed that everyone here is focusing on the "Fearful" thoughts, which is good, you have to learn to get over it. Think about the good thinks in a LD, Fairies and soothing music is an excellent example for hippies, . Actually that's pretty peaceful, think about that instead, for me it's kinda hard to do that, but if you flood your thoughts with peace, then you'll find that nightmares aren't so bothersome anymore. Try listening to peaceful music before you sleep too, it helps alot, I usually listen to Pink Floyd before I sleep, I have sweet dreams pretty much 100% of the time when I do. Anyways, Good luck, check out the Dream control forum for help on dealing with nightmares and stuff.

Xyster has some great advice.

Your subconscious is powerful. It reacts the most to strong emotions, so if you are really scared, it will present you will scary stuff. If you are filled with joy, peace, or even happy excitement it will give you fun faries and meadows and all that.

Once in a lucid dream of mine the world was going crazy. Picture dozens of tornados, explosions, hail, etc. But I realized it was a dream -- I was lucid -- so I wasn't afraid. I actually was crying my eyes out because it was so BEAUTIFUL! It is one of my favorite lucid dreams I've ever had.

Even if you are presented with your fears in a lucid dream just think of them as the perfect chance to face and get rid of your fears. I used to have nightmares of tornados until I masterd that fear by turning to face the tornado and then make it dissapear by force of my will and faith in myself. What a great experience!

Remember, you are the source of all power in your dreams. You (your subconscious) makes them. But when you are lucid you don't have to be subject to your dreams -- you can choose how to feel about them, and even (with practice and experience) control them.
