Hey, I'm surprised that nobody has replied to this yet. What you experienced was sleep paralysis, and it is a perfectly normal, harmless phenomenon. There is a real neurological reason as to why this happens, but it isn't relevant here. The major thing that you need to know is that when you are in a state of sleep paralysis, it is very easy to enter an actual lucid dream! If it ever happens again, you should relax, while not losing sight of your intentions to lucid dream. Picture the place you want to lucid dream to occur. Picture it in ever detail possible. If all goes well, boom bam, you're in a lucid dream ready to do absolutely anything you want. |

Unfortunately it's quite common for people to panic when they find themselves in sleep paralysis, especially if you get suddenly jolted awake during sleep and find that you can't move. I read an article about it once but can't remember exactly what it said. I usually find that if I get suddenly jolted awake I will have the idea that demons are attacking me, and then I will struggle with the paralysis until I am able to move. Once I'm awake of course I realise - too late - that it was perfectly harmless. Bummer ! |

Attoj, a negative sleep paralysis experience is interesting because no matter how much you may realize that you're paralyzed or dreaming or that it's harmless, or even try to tell yourself to calm down it sometimes doesn't help in evading the mind-controlling fear and feel of a complete loss of control. Why this happens can range from temporary neurological problems to having a ghost possess pass by... |

The sun and moon pass over my shoulders,
I see mountains and rivers all in the palm of my hand.
