      Strange LD, very empathetic DC

Well, Lucid dreaming is not something that comes natural to me. Unless I am conciously thinking about having one during the day and actually try to have one, I won't. About a year ago I was heavily into lucid dreaming, and would have one almost every night. (Normally through WILD, that seems to be the only one that works for me.) I was always able to control my LDs pretty well, but this one was different.

A few days ago I came back to Dream Views after an absence of over a year. (You may remember Shayla, my old account. I had to create a new one because of email issues.) I have always loved LDing, but unless I am constantly working at it can never have one. So for the last few days I have been trying insistintly at night to WILD, and last night it worked.

I felt my body begin to feel very strange, almost tingly. And in my field of vision I saw a strange forest scene. I remember somehow ejecting myself from my bed into the forest scene, and began to walk around trying to think of something to do with my LD. It was a very long LD, and it felt like ages went by before I finally found a DC. She was a blonde haired girl with a feathery little hat and a very french accent. She told me she was part of a rebel group and that I had to help her drive out the tyrant that was ruling her and her people. I decided to play along and agreed, it sounded interesting.

She took my up to her treehouse and I sat down on her couch. She sat down on the floor at my feet and began explaining to me how she had been waiting for me for a long time and that she was so happy I had finally come. She promised she wouldn't let anything happen to me and that she hoped we could become good friends. I felt a sudden strong surge of emotion towards her, and knew that I had to be careful or I would wake up. It wasn't a romantic emotion, it was more like a sisterly kind of emotion. We continued talking for what seemed like hours, about everything it seemed.

Finally it hit me that I didn't even know her name. I asked her hesitantly "I want to ask you something, but I am afraid it will make me wake up." I don't know why I thought just asking her name would wake me up, but for some reason I did. She just smiled and replied.

"Don't worry, the dream state is stable."

I decided to go forward with the question. "What is your name?"

She looked at me strangly for a moment and then responded. It was just a random string of words that had nothing to do with a name at all. I nodded and decided to ask her something else. "How can I make my LDs more realistic, and do more with them?"

She looked really sad all the sudden, and the last thing I saw was her crying and then I woke up.

I don't really understand this. This is the first LD I have ever actually had this much communication with a DC and I don't know what to think of it.

Wow this is one of my favorite posts, i don't know what to make of why your dc started feeling sad. And its amazing that she said about the dream state being stable, i have to try this sometime if i remember. Asking a dc how to make the dream more stable, or whatever was the question. This is a terrific dream!

I'm not sure how she felt, actually. Just that she was very kind, and that I felt horrible for making her cry, even though I don't know what I did.

I felt very comfortable around her and at ease. I believe it was because of her I was able to stay lucid for such an extended period of time.

That sounds like a really good dream, I mean in the sense that you had such a "different" sort of experience. I had a more "up close" encounter with a DC a week or so ago, and it really stayed with me after I woke up.

I'd say this just shows that, at that time you/ your brain was in a sort of melancholy state.

      New to Lucid Dreaming

I am new to lucid dreaming, although I know in the past I have had vivid dreams. I want to actually consciously make an effort to escape in the future.

As for your post...to be honest I don't really think that it has anything to do with your state of mind. This might sound weird, but I think that the girl was crying because you were asking questions that were separating the dream world from reality and thus pulling you from that world, and she was crying because she knew you were leaving. Like i said, I'm no expert, but after reading the things that you wrote, this seemed to be the most logical.

Man, as soon as I get a stable LD, I'd sure as hell would like to make friends with a recurring DC that can speak intelligently.

Maybe the DC doesn't want you controlling the dream? Sometimes I feel like my dream characters are actively working to keep me from becoming lucid, other times they don't act one way or another.

Wow, this sounds really neat... thank you for sharing it with us. Very interesting!

I have never WILDed... I may try it this weekend, but to be honest, I'm REALLY scared of what it will be like.

Do you not experience HI as you drift off to sleep every night? I thought everyone did... ?
