      Very Scared

Lately I've been getting a re-occuring lucid dream where I am under water and cannot breathe. I know I'm in the dream but I have a lot of trouble getting out of it. Now, connecting this to real life is scary... I'm honestly wondering if the same thing is occuring in real life. I often wake up breathless afterwards or my heart is racing.

      Any help or suggestions?

If your are lucid simply remind yourself that it is a dream and the water isn't real. Then breathe it in. You will feel air filling your lungs. I often dream of breathing underwater. To me it feels thicker than air, even though I know it is just air. Try to relax and enjoy it. Think of the possibilities -- exploring coral reefs and oceans, lakes, etc all without scuba gear!
