      Really Pissed Off....

So I tried to go into deeper of Lucid Dreaming.

At first I concentrated on MILD ... then WILD and lastly I hoped success in DILD. But I couldn't do any of... I remember my dreams, but I was not able to become lucid. I woke up several times, and I insisted that I will now become lucid. I made reality checks at least 40 times during day. All I did in dreams was following stupid stories.... Just a normal dream. Although interesting fact is that I remember them very clearly as lucid dreaming (I have had about 15-20 lucid dreams in total). I think firstly it is good that I am able to remember dreams.. Then I can go to lucid soon. Today I will try again... I must succeed and I will. So far all my lucid dreams have been purely on accidents....

...I was so pissed off when I woke up in morning. More over I put phone to wake me up 2 o clock in night, and I forgot to set alarm to right time in morning so I slept even in and was late in job... But I WILL SUCCEED!!!

I have set my goal to see at least one lucid dream per night and every morning I write it down...

I haven't met you yet, so hi!

Anyway, the reason you probably aren't becoming lucid is because you are going about it the wrong way.

As Far As Wilding Goes Let me qoute the late Billybob. If you read down, you may see something that you are doing wrong as far as WILDing goes. Oneironaut bunny is right about the WBTB point. It's talked about in this qoute as well.

      Point #1: Sleep 3-8 hrs

You sleep for a period of time before WILDing so that it will be easier to enter REM.
The vast majority of people find that between 5-7 hrs is how long they need to sleep before WILDing. A very small minority say that they find it easier to WILD without sleeping at all prior, but this is a very small minority.

Point #2: Stay up anywhere from 10 seconds to an hour

The reason you should do this is so that you will be able to do the WILDing procedure without passing out.
As stated above, you may have to stay up for an entire hour before you'll be able to WILD without falling asleep, or you may only need to stay up for 10 seconds.
Everyone is different, you'll have to use trial and error to figure this out.

Point #3: Lay down on your back

Though some can WILD on their side. I, as well as most successful WILDers I have known in the past have always laid on their back during their WILDs.
This works probably because most people normally have a small amount of trouble sleeping on their backs (when compared to their sides or fronts), and also because being on your back creates less pressure points on your body, which can possibly cause problems during the breathing stage.

Point #4: Focus on you breath

This is where most of the magic happens.
I won't attempt to explain why keeping your attention on a single thing (ie. your breathing) makes you enter the dreamstate. Instead I'll just tell you that it does. Focusing on your breathing in the correct way is what will make or break your WILD attempt.

There is a secret to WILD. A secret that somehow got lost in the cracks of every tutorial that I've read. Though most tutorials do tell you the secret, they camouflage it under the veil of unimportance.
I am about to plainly state this secret for what it is: the thing that the people that can WILD do, but that those that can't don't.

You must NOT think about the fact that your WILDing when your WILDing.
"How the hell do I do that?" you ask? Its simple and totally obvious. You WILD!

Why do you think your supposed to focus on your breathing, or a mental picture, or some other mental or bodily function as you WILD?
You focus on these things to occupy your awareness until a dream creeps up and pulls you into it.

What most people will do is focus on their breathing for about 5 minutes, then think to themselves: "I wonder how close I am to being in a dream". That thought, when backed by awareness, will make getting into a dream impossible.
The sad truth is that if you look for a dream it will never come. If you try to force a dream it will never come.
Concerning Reality Checks Some people present RCs as something that should be done frequently enough that you will make it so habitual that it will translate into your dreams. This is NOT what an RC is intended to do. RCs are a way to train your midn to think critically about it's enviroment and respond with an RC whenever something appears out of place.

So this is what you should do when you RC...

Never RC just because you haven't done one in awhile. This is a major mistake of amny new dreamers and I am more guilty or as guilty of this mistake than any budding LDer. RCs are not just something to be done to go through the motions.

Whenever you see something odd or strange, (even something like you see a boat in your neighbors yard that you've never seen before,) do an RC. the inverse is true as well. Don't ever do a reality check unless you see something odd or strange. Just don't...

      On Dream Journals
As far as every morning writing down your lucid dreams, if you want success you should write down 'every' dream in detail. Every single one, yep. The most successful LDers on this site never stopped keeping a detailed dream journal as long as they had lucids.

Not only does this improve recall, it bridges the gap between waking and dreaming memory, allowing you to think coherently in dreams and remember thinks from RL.

On a closing note, your confidence and diligence is inspiring and will serve you well. It's good to see. I just hope that I helped clarify some techniques that you may have been applying improperly.

      See you around the forums.
