      My first decent LD

from my dream journal. occurred this morning

      I REALLY NEED SOME HELP!!!

      My First 'Real' Lucid

I awoke at 7:45 AM from my alarm, attempting to WBTB.

I lied there for less than five minutes, and I was out.

I don't remember much of the first part of the dream, if it even had a beginning, but I was at my computer, checking my email. I had just gotten some messages from YouTube.

As I was clicking through my inbox, I came to the realization "Hey! This is a dream!" Nothing bizarre or surreal caused me to realize it. I have no idea what initially sparked it, possibly I remembered that I tried the WBTB technique.

So, I got up from my desk and stood up in my room. To be sure I was dreaming, I wanted to see if I could float. I did. I hovered about 6 inches from the ground for a few seconds.

Ecstatic, I floated a bit higher, uneasy about how I can control myself, and flew out the window.

I soared high above a field next to my house (that doesn't exist in the waking world) and over a nearby major street. It was late afternoon - almost dusk. There were many cars driving along. Nothing was surreal in this dream at all - save me being airborne - except that there wasn't too much detail to things, even if I tried focusing on them.

I flew over the street and got lower and lower until eventually I was flying at high speeds (50+ mph) above a truck that was driving. They didn't seem to notice as I peered inside to see two Caucasian men inside, one with a tall mohawk that touched the ceiling of the truck, the other with short blond hair wearing a wifebeater. I didn't get a chance to look at their faces, I zoomed off ahead of them.

After trying to focus on something for a while, I became dizzy and disoriented. I was a bit disappointed because nothing was REALLY vivid, and while flying was fun- it wasn't exhilarating - kinda like my last lucid dream :-/ .

I landed in a nearby field and tried to summon something. I figured using a magic wand would help me out, instead of summoning something at random.

I wasn't quite sure of what to conjure, and I remember my dream journal, so I tried to summon the man from my er... explicit dream.. >_>"

I tried to form a magic wand in my hands, but no luck. The most I got out of it was a few stars/sparks flying out of my hands.

      Disappointed, I awoke.

It was 8:15, not even 30 minutes after I fell asleep to have the dream in the first place.

any help (to increase vividness and help summoning - i've read like nearly all the articles on here about it) would be lovely and greatly appreciated.

Wow! Sounds like a great LD! Flying is so fun!

I suspect the reason the dream lacked vividness is because you noticed that it did and focused on that fact. A better thing to do is to instead notice a lack of vividness and then think about how vivid something is. Even if NOTHING is vivid, convince yourself it is vivid and focus on this belief.

My sure-fire way to make a dream vivid is to minimize my activity and focus attention on fine details. So, instead of flying around and looking for cool stuff or trying to conjure cool stuff, simply sit down wherever you are and just look around. Use all your senses. Look at your hands and flex your fingers. Feel the texture of the floor or ground or nearby object. Notice how real it is. Knock on the ground or clap your hands and listen to the acoustics of the room. Sniff and smell the aromas of dust or trees or whatever is around. Listen for the sound of birds or nearby traffic. In summary, avoid the temptation to get interested in events, people or objects and instead focus on the ordinary, ambient details of the world. For me, this always brings the LD into vivid focus.

I've written about this in more detail in another thread.
