I think my bed was shaking

Ok this is really strange...I was taking a nap today, not really trying to WILD but sorta happened like that anyway b/c i was having trouble falling asleep. Anyway...at one point when I was experiencing strong hypnogogic imagery and not yet in an LD but almost there, a song began loudly playing and I felt my bed bouncing to the beat/base of the song. I sort of came out of becoming lucid but was still in a trance-like state and my whole body was vibrating and I could have either gone lucid or woken up, and I just kept thinking that my radio must have been on and my bed was bouncing to the base...but then I realized that my radio wasn't on and I sort of came out of that state and layed there all paralyzed for a minute, just vibrating and then the music stopped and my bed shook like 2 more times...I was totally freaked out and couldn't figure out what the hell was happening. Just then my cell phone rang and I snapped out of it and everything was normal again. It might have been more like a hallucination because it certainly wasn't a dream, and I don't think my bed was actually shaking...but I am kinda freaked out by it though.

I've had really convincing tactile hallucinations at this stage of sleep before. Nothing exactly like you're describing, but I used to get "levitation" all the time, where it feels like you're floating just above the bed, and if you realize and wake up, you could swear you just fell back into bed. More recently I'll be able to feel my limbs in a different arrangement than they actually are--I'll feel my legs crossed, but if I move them they're side-by-side; I feel my hand on top of the covers, but if I move it it's underneath. On the few occasions I've woken up with sleep paralysis, it's often accompanied by sensations of falling or heavy weight. I think it might just be the result of bringing consciousness along into a realm that's usually ruled by autonomic functions, but I dunno. I get totally convincing sound and visuals at this stage of sleep, too.
If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama

OMG I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. Sometimes when I am trying to WILD I will be convinced that my hands are like laying on top of each other on my stomach, and once I move them I realize that they were really by my sides....and one time when I was laying on my side I could have sworn that my arms were like between my legs cutting off circulation to my hands but I knew that I would definitely not sleep this way so instead of moving I just ignored it even though it was quite a convincing sensation. Very strange.

That has alot to do with Obe/AP if you believe in it. Your limbs exiting your body, well astral limbs anyway. If it is that, or just a sensation then at least there are some possible explanations. Whenever i try an AP, besides feeling all the normal stuff, that is one of the things to feel, as if your not really in your physical body and stuff is starting to come loose.

lucidnina that shaking and music that you had while in bed is strange, not really sure what it might be besides being on the verge of a wild or something similar, maybe an Obe.

I have tried WILD's before and I have this odd sensation las if somebody is managing to get my mattress and lift it up (while I'm on it). Consequently I feel like i'm about to fall off my bed. It's impossible for somebody to actually be there, though, because the side from which it lifts has no space in which for you to stand, unless you happen to disregard the rule saying "You can't stand in walls."

I really don't know anything about OBE/AP...guess I need to read up on that stuff because I have typical LDs the rest of the people here, but there are very strange things that happen on occassion. And Kaniaz...I've felt like I was going to fall off my bed before too, but mostly I just get that weird "displaced limbs" feeling.

Those stuff u feel is actually very normal in the vibration state. You can hear different stuff, usually beeps and tunes, but also sometimes, voices and - like in ur case - music. I always feel lika I'm falling, like I'm spinning around or whatever during this state, it's totally awesome! : )

      WILD's

Well, from what I understand about OBE's they are a little less voilent. WILD's however, can be very intense in the transfer to the dream world.

From what it sounds like lucidnina, you were entering into a lucid dream but got frightened by all the sensory input. I heard it explained this way once,

"When getting to the point of REM sleep, your subconcious brain is racing at a thousands miles a minute. Your eyes, ears, and other senses are accumstomed to the very calm input from your concious brain from your surroundings. When your concious begans to switch inputs from external to internal, sometimes the difference is staggering. And therefore your senses have trouble adapting. And they tend to handle the transfer in different ways. Loud noises, violent tremblings, and other mysterious physical sensations. They are just your brain trying to translate all the information from your subconcious."

My personal experience feels like I'm being vaulted through a long tunnel at break-neck speed. Or I'm being push into my bed by a very strong gravitational force. Stuff like that.

      hope this helps.

Something I'm always thinking about - is there a difference between an OBE and a WILD?

      THe Diff

Well, I'm not an authority on OBE's, but from what I've learned and read, you don't have powers or much control in an OBE, you just ghost around using an astral body. I've personally never experienced one. But I believe there is a world of difference between them. That is to say, if OBE's aren't Lucid dreams. because Wild is just another way to Lucid dream, and I believe OBE is not connected with WILD.

      Just my two cents.

Whenver I get to the point where I can see my hands when I am trying to WILD, I just move them, feel my real hands try to move, and then I just stand up and I am in the dream, whenver this happens I never wake up, I just concentrate on trying to move them with my mind then I try and move my hands and I'm in.

In a OBE, the person feel he/she is out of the body, but a WILD does not need to be about floating out of the body. So IMO, yes, there is a difference between OBE's and WILD's.

On a side note, I think a OBE could be a WILD, but there is no reason all WILD's should be the same as OBE's.
      Are you dreaming?

Sorta OT: Can anyone tell me how fast their vibrations going into a WILD are?

I've had them a couple of times and for me they're about 3Hz (3 vibrations a second) which is a lot slower than I imagined they would be from descriptions I've read.

sounds like you may know more than you think. From what it sounds like to me you could have led yourself into an OBE.

Have you ever been lyeing there and feel that your body is seperate from your body? Not really an OBE but you cannot tell if you are two feet tall or Six - like your arm expieriance. A displacment if you will. Like your brain and your body are not in concert with each other. very odd feeling. I like it.

Ok, so this morning I was having another lucid marathon (tons of minute-long lucids basically) that kept going on forever and I remember lying in bed and I really wanted to try and have an OBE experience. So as I was laying there, I tried to sit up...not physically, but more like in a dream like spiritual state, like I was trying to leave my body...I got up almost to the point of sitting up, but then was constrained and couldn't go any further. But I really felt that if I could have gotten all the way up I could have had an OBE? Is that what that is all about? Like I was there, in the present...coming out of my body, but I just couldn't get out past the waist. It was strange. I don't know what was confining me. Does anyone know what I am talking about? I really need to learn more about this I guess.

Reading alot of Obe/AP text and stuff, some advise that difficulty in completely leaving your body can arise from several reasons. A couple are, trying too hard, you may not realise it at the moment but going with the flow, with a sub-concentration on leaving can be a good way to naturally let it happen instead of forcing. Fear is the most common though, people's fear of leaving can be a constraint. From your post lucidnina it seems like progress is going the right way but

Funny story. Back when I was in middle school, I felt my bed shake one night. I just figured I was half asleep and I was dreaming this, that is, until my mom ran in and asked me if I had felt the earthquake.
