One of my first intense and fully controlable LD's

After trying for years to LD to no avail, I eventually forgot about it. But just recently this year at college, once or twice a week I would take a mid-afternoon nap around 3 or 4pm. Almost every time during these naps I would unintentionally have intense, almost paralyzing bouts with lucid dreaming, but never having lengthy, fully controlled ones.

So today's LD came about the same way: I laid down in my bed for a nap (on my right side) around 4pm and simply drifted to sleep and once in the dream I became lucid, noticed it was fading, and having read just recently about salvaging a LD through spinning, gave it a try. And it worked. I did it twice and the scene changed to the back seat of my families old Conversion van, which I haven't thought about for years. I was sitting on the backseat w/ my current girlfriend and we began fooling around, which elicited exactly the type of feeling I have heard other talk about--waves of pleasure. It was so intensly pleasurable that I began squirming in my dream, almost waking myself up, and then thought that I was actually moving not only in my dream but in my bed and was worried I would fall off my loft bed, thus my dream began to fade and I was then transported to a very odd scene which involved some sort of concert, the statue of liberty in the form of a person I have only seen briefly around campus. I then woke up, eventually went back to sleep didin't have any more LD's.

God man, you're freakin me out how similar it is how your lucids came about to mine. I first started having LDs my freshman year of college (I'm a senior now) when I would take a nap in my dorm room in between classes. At first, I had no idea what was going on...they went away for awhile and would come back every now and then and then just about 6 months ago came back strongly...I joined this site, and have been happily LDing away ever since We're just naturals like that...you are so lucky. Anyway, I know exactly what you are talking about when you said that you thought you were actually moving and might fall off your loft...but don't worry...thats what sleep paralysis is for, it paralyses you so that you CAN NOT act out your dreams, although it often feels that way. I remember one lucid I was having in particular where I stopped doing what I was doing (you can imagine what I was doing) because I thought that I might be doing this in real life and that my roommates might see it, so I made myself wake up and I was just lying there like normal.

Wow, it's very welcoming to already have a sort of kindrid-LDing spirit on the board and I'm only three posts in.

That's very reassuring to know that I can't move once in the dream paralysis state, so now I won't worry about it anymore when in a LD and avoid those sort of panics that wake me up. I think the greatest obstacle for me at this point is that I can't fully relax yet because I'm still learning the nuances of LDing and it's all very exciting and strange to me. Thanks again for the words, it's nice to know that someone else knows exactly what I'm talking about.

Aw...Kindrid-Lding spirit...I like that. When I first joined the boards and started posted stuff like you are no one had any clue what I was talking about haha.

Anyway...it is definitely an exciting experience, and the hardest thing to do is really to relax. Especially when trying to WILD...I've only had 2 WILDs but each one took about an hour before I began to LD b/c that's how long it took me to fully relax and enter paralysis. Like after 20 minutes my body would get all tingly and I'd be like...oh man, here it comes...then my heart would start pounding and I'd lose it and have to start all over. It just comes with practice. You'll learn how to relax and control your lucids much better, stick around the board, there is alot of great things you can learn here...its helped me immensely!! I've been having like 5-10 short - long lucids every morning and a couple during midday naps...of course they range in clarity and level of control. Anyway...happy dreaming
