what i noticed from trying to lucid dream myself to get rid of nightmares,it is my opinion that about 1 out of 100 people can lucid dream and really control their dream. i cant even get lucid, all i have are horrible nightmares and i always wake up sweating. you are lucky that you can at least know that you are in a dream, that is the first step. i never know that i am in a dream,i always think that my nightmares are real.

Epic. It's annoying how stupid one gets when not fully lucid. I remember one dream where I went "I'm dreaming! So this is a lucid dream then.." lots of things were happening around me, very distracting - "Hmmh, I better get back into the dream, how else am I supposed to get lucid?". Off I went and before I knew it I was once again running from zombies.

You need to make special training for this. You need to put all your focus and intent on making it clear that "I can't be hurt in my dreams - They are only dreams and I don't have to play along if I don't want to".
