I had something of a success... not fully there yet, but way better than usual. xD
After not having LD'd or tried to LD in a while, I woke up an hour or two early this morning, so I decided to try a WILD.
I woke up my laptop, read a few pages on LD'ing, went to the bathroom, and then went to sleep.
I tossed and turned a lot, trying to find a position where the light from my window wasn't too strong (it basically lights up the room xD) and I was comfortable, then realized that I should just stop shifting.
I did, and managed to get to sleep and become conscious of it. Not completely sure how I did it, I think it was just time and patience. When I realized I was dreaming (again, not completely sure how I did that, it just happened), I first flew because that's just awesome.
Only thing is, just like in this thread, my eyes were not open, so couldn't tell where I was but definitely felt the sensation of flying and controlled the flight. After a while, I returned to bed because flying without seeing isn't very exciting. When I tried opening my eyes, I caught a sliver of my bedroom and was afraid to open them more in case I was waking up.
The dream tried to take over, and transported me away from earth. At that point (as soon as the dream began taking over), my vision started to return. I caught a flash of the globe/earth on my bedroom floor, then it was back to darkness for a short time. When we approached this other planet, I remained semi in control, and watched as I was transported to a strange alien base called spaceship 1. There was this weird chant about never returning to earth in the background.
I changed the color of the space station just to be sure I was still in control. Then, I bathed in this huge pool with others in lineup behind me, which was my dream kinda taking over again. I struggled to remain in control and teleported back to earth... bingo, couldn't see anything again. Then I decided to try creating another person to see if that would make me see somehow, so naturally, I made myself a boyfriend. (Don't laugh. ) I climbed into bed with him and told him a little about my LD, but I was still only semi in control and blind. I gave up trying to see and woke up slowly.
The weird part is that when I woke up, I didn't fully feel awake. I felt very heavy and groggy. I think it might have been a false awakening at first, as I pushed my fingers into the wall by my bed and it gave way a little and didn't quite feel right. For whatever reason, I ignored that and literally pushed past it with as much force as I could to wake myself up, thinking that I was awake and just tired from the LD. I didn't notice any perceptible shift between that state where I could still kinda push my fingers into the wall and the state where I'm posting now, but I'm definitely awake now (having done reality checks galore).
Thoughts? Tips?
Maybe I should have opened my eyes anyway and risked being in my bedroom and waking up? I tried telling myself "I can see, it's a dream," but it didn't work. I tried shifting the scene by flying and it didn't work. >.<
But I'm happy because I got at least a partial experience.
