      My first LD! :D

It happened this morning for my WBTB.
I had smoked a solid J during my hour awake and was fearing that my recall would be shitty, but it was rather good.
I lay there, falling asleep and the technique of just watching your thoughts pass by kicked in by itself and I just lay there, watching my thoughts.
Soon after I drifted off to sleep. And suddenly I was standing in my living room, and I thought, how odd, I was just in my bed a few seconds ago. I did the nose RC and it kicked in.
As soon as I knew I was dreaming, I became overexcited, so much that everything around me began shaking, kind of falling apart. I quickly focused myself, but I was feeling myself losing my dream to excitement. I decided to give flying a try, but as I thought about it, I had no idea how to try. I simply inhaled and tried to lift myself off the floor. I then started to hover. I noticed that when I was pulling upwards, I went upwards.
Discovering shot my excitement through the roof and my dream shook apart in front of my eyes and I awoke.

I had no idea what to look for in a lucid dream, but this experience certainly gave me a taste. It only lasted about 30 secs, but the idea of being in control was overwhelming. I guess that covers 2 of my goals: Have an LD [] Fly [] I am looking forward to attempting an LD again.

PS: I've no clue how to classify this LD. I guess it would be a DILD even though I started off trying to WILD.

This is a Dream. Do a Reality Check.

      Congrats on your first lucid!

It's fairly common to wake up all too soon in those first few lucids. But you should be very proud that you were able to make yours last as long as you did. You were able to keep yourself as calm as possible, which is the first thing you always need to do when you get lucid. Next time, to keep the dream stable, you can try rubbing your hands together, or touching a wall or the ground for a minute. You can also shout "clarity now!" if you have trouble seeing.

As you have more lucids, they will get longer and it'll be easier to do things like flying without making it unstable. You're definitely well on your way. Keep at it!

Woo hoo! Congrats! I just had my first "on purpose" LD and I did the same thing: got all excited, wasn't sure what to do, and then woke up, all excited. I think we'll be able to stop waking up the more we have.

As far as the smoking and recall, you know, I'm pretty new to this, but I've observed over the years of just trying to remember my dreams that I don't think drinking or whatever matters as much as just the amount of sleep you get. That's totally my personal opinion, but when I notice that I haven't been remembering too many dreams and I think back, then I realize that I wasn't sleeping as much.
