      Question Lucid Nightmare or not?

Short version is Jason from Friday the 13th killed some dude in front of my house, I ran to my bedroom to hide then thought i'll just go grab a gun to kill him. I was scared shitless the whole dream and when I was about to go run for a gun I thought fuck this i'm dreaming I want to wake up now. I woke up feeling scared as shit but laughing at the same time because I knew I was dreaming and just woke myself up instead of trying to do anything.

But was that considered a lucid at all? Pretty sure I knew I was dreaming and stopped dead in my tracks in the dream to wake myself up because the feeling of being scared was almost overwhelming.

Thanks for the feedback, anyone else feel the same way? I'm still a bit confused if I should consider this a lucid or not.

I think you had a quick lucid. I had those a few times before I even knew what LD was. The dream would be so scary I would tell myself "this has to be a dream, wake up!"

Lucid dream = being aware you're dreaming so from that I think you were lucid but you became lucid because you were "scared" in your dream. IMO that takes willpower, sometimes my scary dreams just change scenery and I can't remember much about the nightmare.

Keep it up, i'll see you on the moon!

You were aware, at one point within the dream, that you were dreaming, therefore it is a lucid dream.

I'm not on DV much these days, but I'll try to toss a cool dream or two into my DJ.
