That sound very interesting, Marlo. Anyway, it only sounds like you need to be somewhat experienced so that it works. I'm going to try it some time though.
Come to think of it, you know what might help you ? Go somewhere on a hill or a place with very little houses around. I use a park nearby. Hopefully, there should be a bench of some sort. Sit down, and tilt your head back (carefully), until it's almost upside down. Whitness the clouds and imagine you are not above the earth, but BELOW. Above your head the there is Earth. The whole blue space DOWN might make you dizzy, so be carefull. In that deep-blue sea, you could imagine other planets deep down, others above earth. This should break up the illusion a bit. There are other ways of becoming aware of the 3D space around you, for example looking at the moon and imagining where the sun is behind the planet to light it like it does. Let me know, if you try it, how it felt.

Hope this helps.
