Thread: What are the lucid crossroads? O_o

I saw someone refer to these in one of the posts... just wondering what this place is supposed to be.

The lucid crossroads is a website about dream sharing. The idea is that people can somehow meet in their dreams at this place the web designer made. I, personally, don't put much into it.

I also am skeptical (as my friend there at the crossroads tells me). I invite all of you to go visit this website. You might think dreamsharing is a bunch of hooey, but there is more over there in addition. The graphics and layout over there are quite impressive!

If you ever do manage to make it, please tell Glad and Clem I said howdy!

I am going to check out the site....and am going to try this in my next lucid.

I was also thinking of creating something similar...based around my "Dream Lounge" in my art thread. Would do you guys think?

It would be hard to be more skeptical than me Seeker, I do however think that its a skeptics job to test what he/she finds challenging.

That would be very cool, I had to do this myself as no-one else seemed to have bothered. The Crossroads is currently generation2, gen3 is currently being built, full list of changes (many aimed at making a solo visit very exciting) can be seen here http://www.lucidcrossroads.co.uk/news.htm , included will be dream doors talyored to specific LD's. For intrest to you lucidnina will be double doors that will open to other similar projects like the Crossroads, I'll link to your place if you do get it up and running.

As Seeker knows the Crossroads project is going to take off in a big way soon, I've just upgraded my software, networked my computers to handel the rendering challenges and sharpened my pencils...

You could consider taking on part of one of the new Crossroads buildings lucidnina Don't worry if you want to do your own thing (I took a look at your art thread and your rendering looks very good). I'll be taking on the whole of the exterior but I'll be picking some rendering pro's to take on the interior of some of the new buildings that will appear near the main disk.

I'll also be intergrating between the new Poser 6 and having real life models to acheive the desired feel between photorealism and that hard to capture lucid light and feel.

I hope to make it far more of a mind trip Alca as soon as my bread and butter illustration work gives me time.

Seriously...I would love to help out in any way that I can. Just let me know. I doubt I would have the time to get my own site up b/c I'll be working on my thesis project all next quarter...but I could surely help you out with some of the modeling/etc. I use Cinema 4d by the way.

I don't think people realise just how much work goes into a website and then one that you have to produce the content.... Sheese

Cinema 4D is a quaility program, I had a look at it and used everything on the market for years till I settled on Carrara 3, its dirt cheap but its HDRI renderer is Lightwave quality and superfast. I've just upgraded to Carrara 4 pro that can render over a network and can import poser files and associated animations and textures correctly. I've also just pre ordered a copy of Poser 6 which will come in very handy.

I'll be producing a sketched version of the site so you can pick what parts you might want to attempt It could just be an element, or something more expansive like a building interior. I'll credit you on the site and you can have full permission to use images from the site in your portfolio.

The Crossroads was setup as a stable regular place that people would think of as a place where dreams could be shared.

I had three choices when writing the Crossroads website.

1. Have sort of health warnings everywhere saying "this is an experiment in shared dreaming but shared is not generally accepted by the world at large and has not been sceintifically proven".

2. Lieing about others shared experiences at the Crossroads and saying that shared dreaming is possible, even if I couldn't come up with any proof.

3. The route I chose, which was to make the Crossroads sound like a cool place to visit and making the descriptions sound like shared dreaming was possible (maybe mind set does have a strong part to play) and then explaining about the non scientific, unproven aspect of sharing the same dream in the supporting pages.

I have not shared a dream at the Crossroads but I have had what many people would class as a shared dream (non lucid) you can read the account here http://www.lucidcrossroads.co.uk/shared.htm

I did mention your site in my lucid links at some stage, pantalimon. It is an great site and I believe one of the first - if not the first substanial one I found on LD'ing. Yeah, well done with that

I remember that Kaniaz, thanks, DV make up a big slice of the traffic at the Crossroads. I just wanted to see more visual stuff when I visit a lucid dream site, dreaming is a visual experience after all, so I hope the site fullfils this.

when I talked about proof I dint include the Science because I think its not the only way to prove something I should have asked you if you had any shared ld in the crossroads
but anyway you ansewered my question

I believe in shared dreams btw
