There is an umbrella/sword/cane thing. I think it might look something like Steed would have in the Avengers.

Fragment 1: Digging (0.5)

I seem to be digging at a pipe in the ground, made of some soft silver substance. I/we dig away at this, and eventually have a squarish cleared spot in the side of a hill. Something might end up being parked or dropped there.

Fragment 2: Working in the Lab (0.5)

I’m working in the lab. My friend Z— is working there too. I’m trying to put something together using an Arduino. Then I go somewhere, and when I come back Z has taken my Arduino to use for his project. I think I need to have the project done soon though, and I’m a bit concerned. He wants to show his mother the project, I think. Some details in the dream involving wires being plugged into things. The potential new Pope is there also.

Fragment 3: Dating Site (0.5)

Scrolling through a dating site. It seems that I don’t know it’s a dating site at first. Actually, it seems to start off as pictures of models advertising some clothes. Some of the models are posing on the hoods of cars, and the light and heat coming off of the hoods distorts the image so that everything from the head to the lower legs is blurred together.

Fragment 4: Square Dance (0.5)

Something about a square dance. Maybe going to one? I don’t quite remember.

Fragment 5: Walking to my Jeep (0.5)

Going to my Jeep. I think, along the way, I (or we, again) pass a table on which a bunch of cats are either being auctioned or judged as part of a county fair activity. Past them, there are some women that look like they are getting ready to model in some kind of pageant.

Fragment 6: Approaching Pachyderms (0.5)

In a field – possibly laying down. There are elephants some distance away, that seem to be approaching us. At first I don’t think they pose much of a danger, but as they get closer it looks like we will need to move out of the way to avoid getting run over. I kind of roll out of the way, and I think get to my feet. Then I see that there are other animals that kind of look like rhinoceros or hippopotami.

Dream 1: Taking an Exam, and Star Trek Books [1]

I’m taking a test. I start out by trying to go question by question and answer them all in order, but then I realize that I don’t know a lot of the material. Also, the test is several pages long, and will take me quite a while to finish. Then I think the best strategy would be to go through and answer everything I can, coming back to the harder ones when I got the easy ones. I haven’t studied for this exam, at least not very well. There was a textbook, but I didn’t read it all. The instructor gives me a fair amount of time to finish the test, and I wonder if I could skim over the textbook and get a feel for where the information is located so that I can look it up. It’s an open book test…

…I’m looking at books and/or videos, either for sale or to borrow. This place has a bunch of Star Trek books, including collections of the James Blish adaptations. These collections look rather large. I wonder if there are some new ones in here that I haven’t read or seen. One of the books appears to be an adaptation of the animated series. I think to myself that this is how I used to look for tapes of the Avengers TV show.

I have a vague memory of having dreamed about the University from which I just graduated. Something about my advisor, maybe. Then there is a memory of my old office, cleaner than it used to be.

Fragment 1: Spider [0.5]

There is at least one spider, under a small box. I think it might be poisonous. I'm lifting the box using a stick or something, I think.

Fragment 2: Batman [0.5]

I’m pretending to be Sherlock Holmes or Batman. Or maybe that is who I actually am. My last name appears to be Batman, and I think about what Batman’s last name actually is supposed to be.

Fragment 1: Overboard [0.5]

Aboard a ship. Pulling on a large flag, which might also act as a sail (though I’m not sure). Someone has gone overboard. This is taking place along the “middle” access area at the debris removal site.


Dream 1: Libraries, Protests, Trees [1]

“Oh, I don’t know how to protest
‘cause I don’t know what’s going on
I don’t know how to protest
And that’s why I sing this song”

I’m singing that song out front of possibly the library. There are other verses, the above might have been the chorus. One verse is about a fictitious Uncle who took risks and lost a duel. “But he knows better now” might have been the last line of that verse. I dance around while singing this, and sing to a guy who is apparently a villain. It seems like there was a whole plot earlier that I’m referring to. Maybe even a movie. I have a cane in my hand as I sing, and I mess with the guy using the cane. This guy is dressed in some fancy suit and is wearing a bowler hat, I think. Like a “Dandy” from the 50s or so.

I had gone into the library hoping to find a place to work on my laptop. I was going to a quiet place on the second floor, towards the back. Apparently this was the children’s section. A bunch of kids are sitting on the floor and a woman is getting ready to read to them. I need to get behind her for some reason, but she indicates that I’m not allowed to be there. This annoys me a bit, but I comply. At first I think I will just go around to the other side of a set of shelves, and am being kind of passive aggressive about it by making noise intentionally to disrupt the reading. Then I decide I should be kinder than that (or maybe I just don’t want to get in trouble), and go to find somewhere else to work.

Alternatively, I might have been singing this song around the time that I was going to talk to some debris removal guys about trees on the property of my grandpa’s house. They had been cutting trees that they weren’t supposed to be cutting, and had been rude to property owners who confronted them about it. I was planning to stand up to them if they were rude to me. I ask one guy about the trees he was cutting, and asked if it was necessary to cut them down. He says something that I have difficulty hearing, and I ask him to repeat it. It’s something about a tornado. He’s telling me that there had been a tornado warning, I think, but it was past now.

…Trying to figure out if/how I can tune into the Bible study or Church service before or after I travel somewhere. I wanted to go in person, but then I thought maybe I could join online…

…Something about a politician somewhere (Texas, maybe?) that is accused of something. I’m not quite sure what it was. Something about getting funding for something but having a conflict of interests…

Dream 1: Gift Shopping (1 point)


In a library/bookstore. I’m looking for gifts, possibly for my Mom and my brother. There are several floors to the library, set up like the library at my alma mater, and the floor that I am on has some books for sale. I’m also wanting to cook something – maybe make some coffee. So, I’m hoping to find a cookbook to help me. But also I’m looking for gifts. There are some interesting looking books, at least one having to do with botany I think. I go to another floor, where there are tables set up. This looks more like a study area, even though there are books lined up on shelves around the walls. I go back to the elevator (I think I was in an elevator) and maybe check out one or two more floors.

Possibly this leads into the next dream scene, in which I’m looking at electronics. There are some things having to do with an R2D2 replica, that plays music or something. You can buy the replica itself, or various cartridge-like items that attach to it to play different songs. At first I pick one up for Mom, but later I don’t know if she would really like it. I look at the price, and it’s pretty expensive. It’s in my backpack, but I take it back and hang it up on the rack again. Then I see that Mom is there next to me, and she says something.

Fragment 1: Church (0.5 point)

Going to visit a church. It might be my cousin’s church, one that I have dreamed about before. Remembering my previous dreams, I think that this might be a good opportunity to practice reality checks.

Dream 2: Boats, Plots, and Farscape Characters (4 points)

I’m at the lake with someone else – possibly my brother, and possibly Rygel from Farscape. We are thinking about going out on a small rowboat, but the waves on the lake are pretty big. I have doubts that we will be able to fight against them, and it might be kind of dangerous. Nearby, there is a large boat – more like a small ship or tugboat. We get into this one, which would probably handle the waves OK, but it isn’t ours. It seems to me that I don’t like the idea of taking this boat without permission, and anyway the bridge seems to be somewhat large and complex and might be too much for two people to handle. There is a scene in which I’m trying to back the boat into the dock/garage thing it came from.

Something about an intrigue involving foreign countries. There is a plot going on, and I’m trying to identify which countries are involved. Again, it feels like Rygel is involved. We are working together. I somehow get the names of multiple countries, and am working on deciphering the last one. My guess is that it’s China, because it has something to do with dragons.

Later, I’m in a car with the character Crais from Farscape (+ 3 points – Crais is an alien…so is Rygel, but I wasn’t as sure of his identity in the dream). He is driving, but for some reason doesn’t have full control of the vehicle. I have to press on the brake, and then I find that I have to steer the car too. We are driving around a construction site. People are painting what seems to be the steel frame of a building. They are painting it white. We bump into the frame from time to time. There is some uncertainty about being paid for this job. They might not be paying me for drive time.

Fragment 1: Falling


My Aunt getting out of a car and falling. (I’m not going to claim this one for the competition, because my aunt is suffering from dementia and I don’t want to capitalize on that for points).

Dream 1:

There is a place that I’m supposed to go to. It’s up a hill some ways. I go up this hill, and come across a patch of mud. Apparently, this is where Mark Twain, or maybe Tom Sawyer, used to play in the mud. There is a statue nearby, I think. I keep on going, and start looking for an apartment. On the way I pass a bank. In this reality, people have jobs where they go to an office and watch banks through these special viewers that look like periscopes. I wonder what it would be like to have to sit there all day looking into the viewer thing, and not really being able to appreciate your surroundings.
I reach the apartment. Here, I’m supposed to pick up mail, or something.

Later, it seems that I’m shopping for a gift for someone. Maybe my grandmother. I go to a shop where they have those gift sets of various foods – the sort of thing that you could probably buy the individual things a lot cheaper and put them in a basket yourself. There is also cheese here, and my dream focuses more on the cheese. They have it cut in sections and sitting out, kind of looking like the are offering free samples. I’m not exactly sure if that’s what they are doing, but I take a couple of pieces anyway and start munching on them.

Outside in the street, there are a couple of people around that seem a little sketchy…

…I get involved with some kind of plot. I’m supposed to wear an entirely black set of clothes – everything including the underwear is black, I think. There is a nice banquet, and a suave man sort of like David Niven. This might be my boss in the plot. It’s quite spy-like, but more sinister I think. I’m supposed to change into the black clothes to do whatever it is I’m supposed to do. I go into a sort of closet-like antechamber that leads into my own room. The door is shut and it’s pitch black. But I think maybe I shouldn’t change into the clothes. I enter into my room instead, while the man stands outside wondering if I’m changed yet. Then he starts to come in. I look around for the clothes, but they have disappeared. It seems that they weren’t meant for me.

Fragment 1:

In an apartment or a room in a house. This might be a place where I will be staying. There are two doors in the room. We know where one of them leads, but we aren’t sure where the other one leads. Opening it, we see that it leads to the roof.


Fragment 2:

Taking a shower. There is some whitish stuff, like shaving cream or whipped cream, that gets on me while showering. By the end, I’m in my clothes, which are dry, except for some of the white stuff.

Fragment 3:

My pot of Mugwort has a couple of stalks growing in it.

At UA, in the Shrank stairwell.

Fragment 5:

Shopping in a store. There is a TV show with some sports thing on it. My mother is sitting at a table off to my right. I go browsing down the aisles, until I come to a section selling women’s underwear. Then I turn around, trying to listen to the TV as I go along.

My grandfather's oxygen tanks. He has been tired lately, and I see that his oxygen is not hooked up. I think maybe that's why he has been so tired.

Dream 1: Airport mall (1 point)

I’m with some people, in a sort of mall-like place. We stop somewhere, and I see that nearby is a kiosk where some people from India or another part of Asia have been taking pictures and filming things to put online. I think they are somewhat popular on the internet. I want to go over and look more closely, but there are clear plastic sheets hanging from the ceiling as a sort of partition. There are low openings in the partition, that I could duck through. I make it to the other side, seeing that there are other people there. Then I get the idea that I’m not supposed to be there. It’s like an air force base, or an airport on the other side of security. I try to find a way back to where I was without getting in trouble. I succeed in this, by going through a door nearby (which might lead into a coffee shop).

There are some large worms somewhere. I’m standing there, seeing them.

Dream 1: Christmas and the First of the 3-Step Tasks (Lucid) [17 points]


I stop in to a store. They sell a variety of items there, and I like to visit them around Christmas. I tell them so, and it seems that I have been stopping there quite frequently. I think I leave this store, and start going somewhere. I might be following some people in cars, or something. We go down towards maybe a restaurant, and are either looking for a place to park or are trying to follow a road that goes this way. It seems kind of difficult to get through. I think I turn around at some point, and find myself moving along straddling a screwdriver as though it were a flying broomstick. Remembering previous lucid dreams, I think perhaps I can fly on this. At this point I realize that I have been assuming that I am dreaming, somehow becoming spontaneously lucid without realizing it, I guess [+ 10 points]. I think about the competition, and whether or not I should fly. I think instead I should focus on the 3-step task. My first step was to “interact with a DC”. I reach out and grab some nearby woman by the shoulder and say something like “hey, how’s it going?” She turns around [+2 points for interaction, +5 points for first of 3-step task], but then I start to lose the dream (or think I’m losing it anyway).

Dream 1: Miller Hall (1 point)

Walking along a college campus from a school I went to. I come across a building that in waking life was torn down several years ago. Apparently, they haven’t torn it down yet, and are letting people take things from the building. I go inside, mostly to see the place where I had some of my first classes as a Freshman. They seem to have changed it around a little, with the classrooms opening into the main hallway area, which is pretty wide. The hallway area has pew-like benches lined up for people to sit in. I go to a room to my right, I think (where, years ago, they were giving away a lot of geologic specimens). There are a bunch of wood and glass cases – small, maybe two or three times the size of a cigar box, and opening from the top. People are carrying these out. I ask what they are doing with them, and they say they will just throw them away if nobody takes them. These look like antiques to me, and are nice looking anyway. Some of them have old books in them. I am told we can take whatever we want from the building. I think that it will be fun to “loot” the building.

Dream 2: Water (1 point)

I go down to the basement of one of the houses I used to live in. There is water coming out of a kind of pillar. I think that this might somehow be related to God, maybe. Something about an apostle in the New Testament being washed, and this is the kind of water one could be washed in. I get the feeling that one could be made holy by this water. I start splashing myself with it, and then stand under it. But then it seems that this might just have been a shower installed in the basement. My Dad is around somewhere.

Fragment 1: Hospital Visit (0.5 point)

My grandfather is in the hospital. Family is going to visit him. I can see them – my aunt, I think, and a bunch of kids – on a digital picture frame or something.

Dream 3: Snake on a leash (1 point)

Some kind of class. We go out to do things in a large valley/drained lake. They don’t want us to get too far away, but they don’t mind if students are being carried by large birds. I have one of these large birds, but as I go it becomes a snake. The snake goes pretty fast, and seems to glide sometimes. We go along the hillside and I think this might lead into another dream scene in which I’m supposed to be photographing a woman in different locations. She goes down into a sort of pool of water, and I’m supposed to stand on a hill or balcony above her and take pictures. I’m having difficulty adjusting the camera so that it will photograph her, and I get the idea that I’m not supposed to change the setup of the camera. I move closer to the edge and try to angle the camera down, but then some sort of dignitary shows up. I think there are a bunch of people too, and they all block my view. Eventually, I go down to where the woman is, making my way through a sort of gym to get there. I set up the camera there. This seems to be a really sketchy photo/film studio. People appear to be filming pornographic scenes around us. We carry on as though this is normal.

Dream 4: Climbing (1 point)

Trudging through mud, speculating on how they must make boots that enable people to walk through deep mud, since people apparently have done it. I get to the base of a steep hill/cliff, and start climbing up. Someone is dumping old cars down the hillside that I have to avoid. He seems skeptical that it is possible for someone to climb up the hill. I have a path figured out though, and when he isn’t dumping vehicles down the hill I make my way up. This appears to have been near where the Lord Jesus was crucified. The guy dumping vehicles thinks maybe that’s how He “got away”. I point out that it would be pretty difficult to take oneself off of a cross and then climb up a mountainside. Not only that, there was a crowd watching, and it seems like someone would have noticed.

Fragment 2: Lucidlet [10 points]

Walking down a hill. Something makes me think I should do a RC, and I try to count my fingers. Sure enough, I get 7 or so on my left hand. I think I become lucid here, but the dream seems to end soon after.

Fragment 3: Painting (0.5 point)

A guy with a large painting on his wall. It’s pretty nice. He himself is an artist, but he didn’t paint this. He does modify it, however. It is a painting of a large Arabic-style door. He paints another door behind it, and himself in between the doors. But the painting of himself is somewhat cartoonish. Then he makes some more alterations, and the door now looks out into a cyberpunk nightscape.

Dream 4: 20’s party (1 point)

I’m doing archaeology in a town. I find a structure, and start flagging it out.

I have obtained an invitation to a party. The invitation appears to be something like three envelopes inside a bag or a larger envelope. This gives me admittance into a party in someone’s house. The party seems to be 1920s themed, and they have a record and record player with 20s jazz music. People are dressed in 20’s attire. I go inside, but I seem to be a little early. This might give me an opportunity to trim my facial hair, so I find a bathroom nearby. There is someone else in there shaving. I find a mirror and start shaving as well. My face has a lot of beard stubble, and as I look closer it seems that I also have daffodils growing out of my face. But when I look again I mostly just look like I have some beard stubble.

Dream 5: Thrift Store Meeting (1 point)

Walking through a thrift store near where my grandmother lives. I decide to go check out the bargain section, and then head to another section. I think I’m looking for games. On the way, I see the headmaster from my old high school. I don’t know if he recognizes me, and I kind of awkwardly try to avoid him while wondering if I should get his attention. Then I hear my brother, and realize that they are together. We end up meeting. The headmaster seems to be carrying fragments of a broken mug. We get to talking, and he seems to want to direct me to a job opportunity. But it’s not a temporary job, he says. The job has to do with a married couple in the Philippines. They might want a married couple to hire, actually. My mother shows up, and we aren’t sure if the headmaster is trying to fix me up with a girl from the Philippines with this job opportunity. I’m looking at pictures of this, and there are other pictures. I think I’m hoping my mother won’t think I’m just looking at women on a dating site.

Fragment 4: Gas (0.5 point)

A man and a woman were sharing a bed (not sure they were a couple, they were just in the bed). The woman is sitting on the edge of the bed, and the
man has just woken up. Apparently he has passed gas, and it was so bad that he woke himself up and drove the woman out of bed.

Fragment 5: Spaceship (0.5 point)

Something about a spaceship. It might be under attack. I think it’s a video game, and I leave it for a while and then come back to find that the ship is OK. It had been going really fast – way too fast, I guess.

Well, well, well, I figured out my old password! I thought I might never get back in, not knowing how to access the old email account I used when I signed up here.

Turns out, you aren't supposed to make alt accounts for any reason, so I guess I'll be banned for a while (I turned myself in to the authorities). But I feel like I've gone back in time now. My old dream journal and everything!

Trying to get back into the groove of dreaming. A few interesting patterns I have seen lately:

(1) Secret rooms and passages at my Grandfather's old house...maybe related to the fact that when I was little and spent time there, I was fascinated by secret passages and would try to find them. But why dream about them specifically in recent years?

(2) The character Servalan, from the British sci-fi show Blakes 7, still seems to show up from time to time. I watched that show a couple of years ago - she seems quite persistent. But I also watched the show in my old apartment and while I was still in school, and there may be some memory associations there.

(3) There seems to be something related to an underwater place, or people that live underwater. Rather intriguing.
