I've been vegan for a little less than a year now and I haven't noticed a huge shift in dreaming. However, I haven't really been actively practicing lucid dreaming lately. I'll see how it goes now...

Yeah, I do the nose pinch check pretty often. You may want to try WILDing, that was the technique I had the most success with when I first began.

Just pick whichever one you want. You don't really have to 'build up' to a specific one.

I believe what you're talking about is dream incubation. Basically, what you want to do is think up a dream scenario you'd like to have and then experience it when you fall asleep? I used to do...

Yeah, work on recalling, start a journal. My first LDs were all DILDs, so get into those! WBTB is cool, but requires more practice IMO.

I did a sort of WBTB technique on this one. Fell asleep at a friend's house, woke up, went back home/back to sleep and went right into REM sleep.
The dream began with me hanging out with some DC I had met. We were in a museum and I realized I was dreaming (which was kind of strange, I didn't do any RCs, I just knew I was dreaming). So, I announced to all the dream characters in the museum that I was dreaming and they all seemed indifferent and barely acknowledged my statement. I reminded myself to write the dream down when I woke up and I noted the vividness of the dream.
Then, some more friends came into the museum and asked me if I wanted to hang out with them, I was going to take more control over the dream but I remember thinking to myself that I wanted to see where the dream would take me and just went along with my friends.
The dream ended up being really long and I knew I was dreaming through most of it, but didn't exert too much control over the dream.
All in all, pretty good DILD
I remember being in a city and all of a sudden wanting to run.
Side note: I regularly practice parkour/free running, but have recently been unable to do so due to an ankle injury. I'm guessing this dream dealt with my desire to free run again.
So, I jumped off this platform and started running at an amazingly fast speed. Various people were watching me in awe. I turned a corner and headed into an alley where I found an abandoned building. I was really amazed by the building for some reason. Just as I was about to go inside, a ball came flying towards the roof of the building. I quickly climbed the wall onto the roof and caught the ball. I noticed that it belonged to a group of kids who had been playing and I gave it back to them.
Now, one thing about this dream was the amazing vividness of color I had. The city scenery seemed to be somewhat desaturated, but still with plenty of color (if that makes sense). Then, when I found the abandoned building, the colors were all very bright and totally saturated. Interesting.
