I had an interesting semi-lucid dream last night.

Basically, the scene was an old, ruined fortress, in dark surroundings under a red, cloudy sky. For some reason, I knew instantly that something terrible was going to happen (somehow, I had a vision of rocks falling from the sky, zombie-like creatures emerging from the ground, people running around on fire and the entire fortress falling about). Here's where the semi-lucid part came in. For a second I realised I was dreaming, and I had an interesting thought:

What if I became an evil character in this scene?

As soon as I said that I changed into some kind of demon - Large black wings sprouted from my back, I grew taller and felt different, much more powerful. I then lost my lucitidy and spent the rest of the dream with this altered role. Although it may sound a little weird - being the 'leader' of the nightmare, you can have some influence on how it ends out. Even in this new form I did not like the vision I had earlier, instead I toned it down and had a lot fun trying out my new form. I played out the scene but without the people, for some reason I just felt destroying this fortress and seeing what kind of things I could do.

Sounds really weird, but it turned a nightmare into a really interesting experience.

sometimes i would return to a nightmare that haunted me when i was young and whatever scared me then i would beat the shit outa it. its always a fun way to show yourself your not afraid of that anymore. after i woke up i felt refreshed and energized. pretty cool to do.

this just happened by chance so i have no clue how to induce nightmares you once had.

      my lucid dream last night.

      dream sign: water
      trained ld'er:no im natural
      technique(s): none

many of my dreams are just a mix of random stuff. a dream i had last night, i was at a party and the room was huge. there was lights everywhere and a whole bunch of people. i didnt want to be in a crowded area so i ran outside and there was this shallow pool of water. maybe 1-2ft deep and it was held in by a small wall of this soft but sturdy rock. idk why but i layed down in it and felt extremely comfortable. a couple people walked through the doors and i was startled and embarrased. i flopped around and tried to cover myself with a medieval druid robe that felt very natural on me but the two people didnt notice me at all. after they disappeared inside the party room, i got up and ran off completely dry. i was on a street trying to convince a friend of mine to follow me to the pool of water that i found earlier. i led him through a few back alleys and came upon the pool again. as soon as i sw it i felt instantly relaxed and saw that it looked like it was not just 2 ft deep now but deep enough to dive even though it was still as wide as it always was. the party room was dark but you could still hear people in there. i didnt get in the pool but just stood there staring at it. still relaxed. i knew that if i dove down in it, when i would come back up i would be at a lake or another little pool. i forgot about my friend for a little while and when i looked over he was still there. i was still in the druid cloak. the sky was dark and cloudy but you could see clearly. i visualized diving down in there and seeing the walls clean and grey. i visualized that i got scared and came back up to realize i was in a different place. undescribable. i snapped out of my trance and dove in the pool of water.

thats my dream. i was completely lucid. even though i dont use techniques like looking at your hands, i can still know when im lucid and can naturally do anything. although what i plan to do is just go along with what situation my subconsience gives me and work it out to the fullest extent.

ive had that dream before but in my version of it my shadow changed into a 7ft tall demon with bulging muscles and bat wings, it had black fur and red eyes....
it grabbed me by the face and lifted me up slowely and it crushed my head and i felt it crack....not a pleasant experience....that nightmare kept repeating itself and then i had by first lucid dream and destroyed it with a beam of light/energy blast, then comes the kicker, it turns out that the bat monster was actually me in the dream world when corrupted with power, after that it featured in many of my dreams and nearly every fight i have ever had in my dream invovle his minions, all those dreams started out as nightmares but ended in victory by turning lucid, then it showed itself again where it found me in my school and tried to beat the life out of me, while shouting "you will never kill me" and "i am you" so the score was 2-1 to him, then he showed up in another dream and i transformed into a dragontype creature erupted with fire and tackled him into a wall then he disappeared so the score is now 2-2.... but the scary thing is that since that last fight i have not been able to do anything superhuman which used to be commonplace in dreams....

I really am glad someone else has had this experience as well. I'll readily admit that I enjoy being the nightmare in my dreams. I find it difficult to be afraid when you take on the role of fear itself.

It helps to envision yourself in some kind of altered "facade"--more frightening, more terrible, etc. I was given a glimpse of the form I'd taken recently, when I had to deal with ghosts haunting the sewers in some sort of Chinatown. I usually can gain wings or other animal qualities, but this time I was truly a night mare--all skeletal and black and billowing smoke with glowing white eyes. It wasn't even a lucid decision, which was the surprising part (horses don't have claws, after all). It did the trick, though. I've also been dragons, giant feral cats, undead necromancers, etc. The only downside is when some DCs become the "good guys" . . . but I suppose that's inevitable. It is role reversal after all! They're usually just an annoyance, though . . .
