      journaling problems

I have a reoccurring nightmare but my problem is this nightmare really stresses me out so that it's hard to fall back to sleep. Writing in my dream journal right after i woke up really helped me fall back to sleep (i don't know why). But since i had the same dream so often and it was so terrifying it became hard to write over and over. I would fall asleep and struggle to remember details.

Is there anything else i can do or does anyone have any other tips about how i can retain stuff from the dream and write. anything that would help me avoid the post waking stress mainly.

      thank you

You could write all the differences that you notice... or how you feel about the dream.

Instead of writing out the events that took place, I would try to look at the minute details... even so much as "I felt slightly moreless scared" or, "I noticed the lighting was darker/lighter," etc...

if the exact same thing happens in the dream each time, instead of thinking of the events, think of the small stuff.
