      Need theories...

You can check out my dream journal for specifics, but I'm going crazy trying to figure out why I keep having such gruesome and gory dreams.
I've been watching nothing of the sort on TV or movies and neither have I been reading about such or talking about such.

The common themes seem to be dismemberment and "skinning" with the possibility of wearing the other persons skin (it isn't literally "skinning" though).

They're not nightmares in the sense that they wake me up. They don't. But I'm thoroughly disturbed by them after I wake up.

Hmm that would be pretty disturbing.

Well first of all, I don't think that you should be worried that there's anything wrong with you psychologically. Dark, violent dreams, IMO often come up because that is the best way to get your attention. You wouldn't bother rememering or thinking about a bland, happy dream, but you will definitely remember a graphic, scary one.

So as to what exactly it means, I couldn't tell you exactly, but I do think it may be pointing to something that's going on in your life right now. Like a stressful situation, person, place, ect. Wearing another person's skin also seems symbolic of something. I'll have to check out your dream journal later to see if I can think of what it could be.

      Thanks for the comment!

I'm usually GREAT at interpreting my dreams. I have a sort of agreement with my subconsciousness. If I get the interpretation wrong, I continue having the dream until I get it right
I had dreams for over half my lifetime that were repetitive because I couldn't figure out the reason behind them. I kept dreaming about a certain road in Atlanta and there was another dream about a secret entrance in a house to a completely private bedroom. They were both "memories. When I was 4 or 5 I took a trip to Atlanta and drove along the road in my dreams. I was young and easily impressed lol. The other was inspired from a friend who had a laundry shoot in her room but I couldn't look at it because it was too dangerous. *shrug* lol

So I KNOW these dreams are trying to tell me something but I can't quite put my finger on it.
Yes, my life is EXTREMELY stressful right now. My kids had been taken from me and placed in Foster Care for almost a year then *plop* three out of 4 were right back in my care with no real transition period because the State didn't want to transfer them a month into school.
I'm also going through a spiritual crisis... but while those stressors show up within some of the dreams, the bulk of the story just doesn't seem to apply to the heart of my stress. ???

But the dreams are exciting while I'm having them. Perhaps they're serving as nothing more than a stress release (but that does not feel like a true interpretation lol)

Wow, yeah, that's some pretty stressful stuff. Must have been hard on the kids, too. I went through a loss of faith several months ago and I also had extremely graphic, disrturbing nightmares (lucid ones, even) that were not helping. So I think that a crisis of faith could definitely be at least contributing to these dreams you're having.

How you're feeling during the dreams is also a big clue. It's a hard one to figure out, though...
