Wow, that took a long time to read
Actually it didn't, and most of it makes clear sense to me, given today's understood explanations of physics/biology/chemistry/etc. The only thing is the idea of chance which leaves a lot of room open to other ideas.
About the RNA molecule, assuming a random mutation took place from the molecule, creating a functioning cell, and then assuming its conditions stayed the same just long enough for it to multiply and mutate into something more advanced (during a turbulent time on the earth in the first place), while having enough numbers to not die of extinction - and THEN looking at how complex a cell actually needs to be to have the encoded information to chemically-interact with its surroundings.......Geez.....The chances of that happening, over the chances of Intelligent Design, both seem like probable possibilities to me. And no I'm not talking about organized religion... Baaaaaaaaah!
Thinking about the chance that we evolved this way, and then thinking about the chance that every paranormal experience could be summed up as a delusion or a misunderstood bit of logic, tends to lead me away from explaining our origins as being that of a random accident.
Both to me are probable, I can't deny that. Chance is by logic a probable cause and therefore it's still on the table. But with the scientifically-demonstrated power of our minds (placebo effect, positive vs. negative thinking, the paranormal like I said, etc), the mystery remains for me. And then with modern scientific examination of the Universe, showing that A. atoms are not in fact solid or tightly-packed together at all, and B. our eyes only see frequency from the electron clouds of atoms (hologram effect), and that it is our brain that interprets the image and not our eyes, new ideas start to gain scientific merit. It starts to look like one big cosmic game for me. There's so much that remains unexplained about science as of yet, and I really just feel evolution would downplay the vastness of knowledge that remains to be understood.
Anyway just my thoughts. I have my idea about what we are and where we came from, and I know I've described it many times already so I won't rehash it, but I'd rather keep poking my nose around looking for more certainty, even if it doesn't lead me anywhere I like my current explanation because it has a lot of scientific backing as it is, but I still don't shut out other information, provided it has some science behind it. Religion has books and a few clues (debatable) scattered around the world, which also could be attributed to chance, but I can't stand church, tradition, or the threat of everlasting hellfire - it all adds up to running around in circles not searching for anything new, and a way to keep people afraid of the consequences of their actions. An unexplored path is, well, a path waiting to be explored . And on an unexplored path, there's new information waiting to be discovered which could help us a great deal. The element of chance is still there...
