What makes you think life has a purpose?

(And moved to Philosophy)

Why do you feel as though you're "supposed" to be doing something in particular? Just do what ever the hell it is you want. Do you want to go into a specific line of work, do you want to start up a family, maybe help the needy?

This whole forum is not all for lucid dreaming, the majority is, but not everything. As for a purpose, why would there even be one? people tend to think they need things to look at or forward to because they are "supposed" to. Life's what you make of it, if you want a purpose then go do what you think is right, instead of what you think you are supposed to do (that's listening to what people tell you, not what you tell you). If you're looking for life's purpose as a "whole" you will never find one. Do whatever the hell you want, life is short and you only live once. Stop clinging to an idea that you're "supposed" to have a purpose.

no troll, no attack, just plain old honesty from a 30 year old guy

you are mature enough to be over your social anxiety ... theoretically

giving "bad" advices to people is like spreading the flu, you know like telling everyone that the only way to get rich is learn your ass off, than find a good paying job

And for the record I'm 49 and very happy with my life. My personal way of creating purpose is through art.

And it sounds like what you're talking about is actually Nihilism. Nihilists say "There's no pioint to life, so screw everything and just have fun". Existentialists create their own meaning for life.

To be honest, I wasn't entirely sure if I should move this to Philosophy or Religion/Spirituality, but from your approach I'm starting to think I made the wrong choice. Because as far as I know the only people who believe life has some inherent meaning or purpose are religious or spiritual.

Bad advice is only bad if it is made from ignorance, which the advice i gave is not ignorant, it's learned. Am i ignorant? Yes! Is the advice? Nope. I've learned that advice through my 27 years of living, i just don't follow it because of reasons i'm not going to get into.

yes I know that we are supposed to do 3 things, which are eat, survive and fuck

so based on that next time I see a cute girl I should go to her and say:

When people say this it's basically the same as saying "not to be an asshole" just before proceeding to be an asshole. Sorry for the honesty.

Now I'm wondering why you asked the question to begin with since you seem to feel you already have all the answers and just want to slam people for their responses.
