      The Passion of the Christ

Has anyone seen/anyone plan to see this movie?

For me it was breath taking and the only word to discribe it.. Incredible.

and as some of the critics bash it for potraying Jews for His death it made it clear that the jews also helped him (the jew that helped carry his cross) plus the Jews and romans were all that were there in that period of time.

Plus I think the subtitles are a nice touch since it gets you into the movie.

Welp theres my opinion. *gets off the stage*

Lowercase has seen it. I have a cousin that saw it last night.
I'm undecided as to whether I will or not. It is supposed to be really intense.

Didn't a few people die from seeing it, like they had a heart attack while they were watching it or something?

Another tidbit: I read in the paper how an 85 year old nun in a city close to mine went to see it, and she had never seen a movie before. She said it was 'really good'.

I posted this in Philosophy, under the religion section...

I just watched the movie 'The Passion of the Christ'
Tears were running down my face.
No one could make that up, it happened.

He died for me, for us. But WHY! i ask him...sobbing in my pool of tears on the floor, I AM NOT WORTHY FOR YOU TO DIE FOR ME! i am just a human being, not worthy even to talk to you...

But the only answer i get back from His sweet, amazingly calm voice is, 'I did it because i love you, and i want to spend eternity with you.'
I hate religion. I hate all the cerimonial stuff that people believe you have to do to get into heaven.

Christianity is not cerimonial...its about a relationship with God.
Everyone is entitled to their beliefs, i know this is very politically correct. but i guess if someone is not sure, they will see after death.

I know everyone here believes in different things, but i can honestly say that I have heard the voice of Jesus countless times, I have had some problems and i hate to say it, but i am not a christian anymore, but i do know God.

Do you KNOW GOD, or do you just believe in Him?
Thats where the line is drawn from a person going to heaven or not, because all good people do not go to heaven.

sorry...i had to vent there...its what i believe.
I love you guys! hopefully you understand me some more now

Yes someone died because of a heart attack but if you take it in prospective; Someone with a heart in that condition could have died at getting excited at anything.

The move made me cry; And I almost never cry at movies.

I like what Lowercase said, Religion is made way to complicated.. Knowing Jesus is all I need

(Yes non believers will scoff at me saying this no doubt, Oh well.)

Exactly. No scoffing here. I was wondering, though, when this topic would pop up. Apparently it is quite the experience. Some groups are angry about it and others are swept up by it. I may see it (when it comes out on DVD) if for no other reason than it gives a fairly accurate perspecitve on a very important era of history. So I've read, anyway. I've been reading a lot of things in the local newspapers about this movie. It actually made one of the front pages.

I just saw it, it was very moving and it got me to shed a tear or two.. But im ok now.It was also extremely gory, ever scene was bloodshed and people crying.Im generally an open minded person, who really doesn't have a religion but this movie got me thinking....
I don't know what I should believe, I don't know if their is a true religion...
      You guys suck.

      Fresh from the oven.....

I saw the movie today.. my stomach was tight through out the entire 2 hours and one scene made me burst into tears... it was very silent walking out of the theatre, no one said a word... later I tried to discuss the movie with my sister and I started to cry and had to stop talking.. and oh yaa.. the first show time I wanted to see was sold out so I had to kill 2 hours for the next one and got to the theatre 40 minutes before it started and there was a line of people already to get in (and we all had tickets already).

Possibly, this may be one of the highest grossing films.

I won't say what part I thought was the deepest because it is still new and I don't want to spoil the movie direction (as telling the story won't ruin it, we all know what happens). I applaud Mel Gibson for taking a huge risk.

Oh, I watched the "making of" and they interviewed the actor who played Jesus. Did you know when he hung on the cross during a rehearsal he got struck by lightening. He wasn't hurt and he even made a joke about it and said "I just looked up and said God, I guess you didn't like that take huh". I saw it as confirmation from God... and inspirational jolt.

If you haven't seen the movie, I say please go see it on the big screen. It's worth that much.

P.S. I've seen horror movies.. but the beating of Christ..... oh man... I actually had to close my eyes... Pure destruction, pain, evil, hatred.. and it was all real...AND YOU KNOW IT!!

      Bless be

I saw it today. Seems like an okay movie. Not exactly good for entertainment. All it does is goes through small parts of the bible. I was not really sad, but I am curious if it really happened. Imagine if someone actually went through that.

      I haven't seen it

but if they don't mention the gnostics...if they forget the neutrals, I will deem it totally infactual and a complete ego-masterbation on screen, sorta like how Peter edited the Bible, same thing.

Hey now, don't go pushing beliefs. I said IF it actually happened meaning that it may have or may not have -for all I know-.

I've seen this movie with my boyfriend, he said it was the most incredible movie he has seen.My throat was tight all the movie...too much suffering.. when it ended my throat was hurting.I didn't know a human could lose that quantity of blood without dieing.I was more concentrating on not crying than watching the movie. He is a very honest man, if it was me, I would lie so much to avoid all of this suffering.

The most accurate depiction of Jesus on film to date. I'm looking forward to more such productions out of Holywood. I also heard that after some people (critics of Christianity) watched it, they were inspired to actually READ the gospels to see how accurate the film was. Pretty cool.

i have also seen it. i wish i had faith in that type of belief. i did not cry or have a tight stomach, but it was not a bad film. to be honest, i thought it would be alot better. i heard that it was the most passionate movie i will ever watch, but i was not emotionally moved at all. i have always found that period of time to be very interesting, even though i do not believe in any of that stuff (but i am not going to say anyone is wrong. you are all free to believe what you wish). the movie kind of depressed me even more . i mean, it just made me feel abnormal. millions of people go to see this and are inspired or brought to tears or it gave them sorrow, and it does not even affect me. i know many of you may be angry to hear this, but i think the bible is a very good book, but (to me) that is all it is, a book.
Have a WONDERFUL day, and when you're done, have a GREAT night's sleep. (and i hope you still think im as cute as a button)

      1) Thank you. I was feeling quite restrained ...

      2) It would not affect you unless you believe... or at least have some questions.

      3) "The Bible is just a book..." Hear it all the time... Why should anyone be angry?
