Ok so lately, i've become interested witht the topic of the "Third Eye," a supposed eye within the mind, that allows people to perceive certain forces that are otherwise unnoticeable. There are a lot of people trying to tie it to spirituality and religion, saying that it is the way to "Talk to god" etc. etc. Personally, I don't believe any of that, however the more I read about the concept, the more sense it makes. In the center of your brain, between the two hemispheres there is located a certain "gland" which produces much of the same chemicals (DMT) as the eyes, and is also proven to be sensitive to light, and other stimulants. It is called the Pineal gland, and it is what is referred to as the "Third Eye." Through multiple ways (yoga, etc.) one is believed to be able to "open" this third eye which lies dormant in EVERYONE'S brain. (Certian animals actively use the eye to keep an accurate sense of light levels). Apparently, once it becomes open, the person then achieves a certain level of awareness, and here is where peoples perceptions contrast greatly. Some say it will allow one to communicate directly with god, spirit forms, etc. Personally, I will reiterate, I don't believe that, however I do think that considering the fact of the complexity of the human brain (one example is tying ones shoes, you do this without thinking, yet billions of small choices are made by your brain during this process, a task which even the worlds fastest supercomputer would be unable to process in a lifetime), there must be certain forces that act in this world, of which we do not know or understand. Whether it be the force of spirits, or even the aura that a living body gives off, I do believe that this third eye once open is able to perceive certain forces that we never knew existed. I think that people have tried to develop explanations about these perceptions, usually relating to religion, however I think that all of this is still very grounded in scientific knowledge, and evidence.

What are your thoughts on the Third Eye?
Has anyone here been able to successfully "Open" their third eye, and if so what kind of forces do you perceive?

I'm not really sure what most yogi are talking about when referring to the third eye is the pineal gland, tbh :/ It's in the opposite end of the brain for a start! It does have a link to sleep and dreaming though, interestingly enough, but that's more to do with this detection of light levels and regulating of sleep patterns

I think there is no such thing as a 'third eye'. However, around that place there might be a place were we 'feel' our 'ego' (our 'person&#39 'is'... Like we 'feel' our body, we feel like that point in our head is our 'thinking place'. Like that is how it feels...

      Hard to explain.

Lets just say, If you are thinking about something, that place is were it feels like happening. The 3rd-eye-place.

      :/theory.

Man, I don't know what kind of peers I grew up with but I was always thought to think of a third eye as being in context to the male genitalia.
Such as, quite thinking with your third eye.
I don't mean any disrespect to the topic. actually I would like to know the true meaning.

If I try focusing on your "third eye," (or chakra as some call it) like somewhere around the center of your forehead, I start feeling something there... and once I did this before falling asleep and lo and behold! lucidity that night!

Might have been a coincidence, though.
