I don't really like close minded atheïsts.
As a matter of cause, this is not philosophy.

This is fictional speculation, nothing more.

I can just as easily say that "What if the whole world is actually just part of a turtles wet leg which he dropped in a pond in march". It's just empty "what if's" and belongs either in senseless banter or in Artists Corner.

There is absolutely no reason to think anything you said has an ounce of truth to it.

This is nor more fascinating then any The Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter; which are, to an extent fascinating, but not to be taken seriously in the real world.

Ok, give me some evidence for the classic christian God then.
      Nothing? Case closed.
Besides I've seen lots of threads in the philosophy section that have ZERO evidence to back it up. By the way, why are you so hostile? I said "what if", I didn't say "I believe".

What if is worse than I believe.

You can say "what if" about anything ever at all. We can't just go considering all ridiculous abstract what ifs or we'd be here forever.

And as far as I'm concerned there is no substantial evidence for the classic christian god, or any god for that matter. That's why I'm an agnostic atheist.

There are alot of threads in this philosophy section which are bullshit, yes. If I were you though, I wouldn't take your definition of philosophy from an online forum, if you're really interested in philosophy and want to know what it is, my advice would be to start reading books, not any old random stuff of the internet, but classic introductory books. It's the most valuable thing you can do.

I'm hostile cus I get vaguely tired of the constant pseudoscience and pseudophilosophy thrown around on these forums. Nothing personal, I assure you.

So you hate me because I have imagination?
      You're such a wondeful person.
I don't have to believe what other people say or write in their books.
I can think for myself. And if you don't my ideas then why the hell do you even reply???

I didn't say I hate you. -.- I didn't say anything that suggested anything of the sort.

also: No, but you can learn from other people far wiser than yourself.

I replied because this is a DISCUSSION board. Not an agreement board.

Edit: Actually I'm really puzzled as to how you got that I hate you because you have imagination out of anything I said.

It's not a theory. Theories have evidence to support them.
This is a hypothesis. Just brainstorming.
Besides no one criticized my ideas, just what I am doing.

      Congratz, you just described philosophy!

On a serious note, There would be little chance for dc's in the "dream" world to exist, when not presently asleep, because the reality you call "waking life" is also the dream world. But even so, that would make it all the possiblility that the "dc's" you know about are also in the waking life...

You're still in your head, awake or sleeping. Only difference, from what we know, is that you're receiving energy(data) from the external world when awoke, and internal data from memory, when asleep.
      I stomp on your ideas.

I kinda like this idea. Once we all realize that we are God we will have true lucidity in life. It's a good metaphor at least.
157 is a prime number. The next prime is 163 and the previous prime is 151, which with 157 form a sexy prime triplet. Taking the arithmetic mean of those primes yields 157, thus it is a balanced prime.

I agree with this. This topic is just silly. What if god is an invisible leprechaun in my pants, and it dictates that the only sin in existence is believing this topic isn't complete humbug. Philosophy follows the rules of science, and you can't just make stuff up and present it as a theory that is likely to be true. Just because it sounds nice, sentences like "Ohh god dreaming the world" "oohhhh trees have feelings too" "Ohhh stars write out our destiny", doesn't mean they are anything more then complete nonsense. Fine if you enjoy that kind of thing, but it isn't going to become a serious discussion if you have no more reasons to believe it than to believe in the existence of tooth fairies. Discuss this stuff in 'beyond dreaming', 'Religion & Spiritually' or 'lounge'. That's what this topic is, loungy, non-scientific, non-logical, funny-sounding, words in such a order they sound nice to your ears. Or we could talk about how giant unicorns actually control this world by drawing it on magical napkins while waiting for their magical ham and eggs at a magical breakfast restaurant.

Why do people who don't even want to discuss the topic keep posting? I think it's an interesting idea, and thats what it was posed as. I think the idea makes sense in some ways. Like the fact that most people go through their life unconsciously for the most part, If they were to become fully aware, it would like attaining lucidity in many ways. Just because an idea doesn't work out perfectly doesn't mean you can't discuss it seriously.

Yeah, I think it's more than a metaphor and comes pretty close to the real workings of the universe.

I agree. But do you think that God can "wake up" in the traditional sense? I think that part is more metaphorical, but I don't know.

Maybe the world vanishes when he wakes up...maybe it'll continue to exist untill he returns, or dies in his 'real life'.
For us it seems like he is thousands of years old, but his dream is actually just a few seconds in his real world..
Like when we dream - we can experience 4 hours in a 15 minute dream. I think they call it "psy-time".

And when you're not lucid you can't remember what you did before the dream started, so imagine 'waking up' from real life and discovering it's all just a dream.

My ideas are all based an analogies.
There are many recurring shapes in the universe...spirals, circles, etc
DNA is a spiral (kinda) , so is the milky way... I think it's just fascinating.

No, I don't see God as human, so he can't wake up or anything. I just think that the workings of the universe are very much like how our minds work and dream. As above, so below. It is as if the whole universe is reflected inside our minds..

But then again, IMO we also dream during waking life. But the dream of waking life is limited and restricted by our sensory perception, unless you are schizophrenic.

Brilliant argumentation. Oh wait, did you even use arguments? No, none at all! You just rephrased your opinion how this is bullshit in 231 different ways. What's the point?

That it's bullshit. I should have put it in 232 ways, so even the mentally challenged among us would get it. Sorry.
