This isn't the ONLY thing I did.

      I wrote a lot, too.

It's always easier to do face to face of course, I just gt a high from arguing like this on the intercomputers.

It's not a desperate need to be right, it's a desperate need to figure out what's going on in the world.

As a soft atheist, I think theism of all kinds (as well as hard atheism) is foolish. Yet, thousands, millions, maybe billions of humans are theists. The question, then, is who is wrong? Am I missing something? Could that many people just be bad at thinking things through?

This is what we try to figure out when we argue with theists.

But why argue? Why be so antagonistic? Why not have a real discussion about what you actually believe? If all you want to do is "figure out what's going on with them" wouldn't a civil conversation be more beneficial?

Because religion slows down the technological development. If we had been atheists from the start, rather than wasting time on a fictional diety, we would've been so much further today.

True. Although i didn't read any of what S quoted, too long to wanna read. Btw, slowing down the technological developement is good in a way, bad in a way. Good because less bombs...last thing we need is some guy making a small bomb that implodes the world in a single button...bad because we could have cured the bad things in the world today...goodbye cancer, and aids, etc. Also, our lives would be MUCH easier, and we would have had robots doing our work for us while we have fun. SCREW YOU ROBOTS! although people would be lazier and lazier, but we would have to walk into this machine we all have and BAM, right before your eyes you go from fat and unhealty, to buff and extremly healthy. Although what would be our "computers" then? i guess a machine you step in, or a helmet you wear and it's face to face kind of thing. Change the atmosphere, feel the breeze, have your own sim world for surfing the web...actually BE THERE in the heat of battle learning of the past, instead of reading about it. Or your guys favourite...watch people like Einstein (recreated of course) do his work, and learn.

      Uhuh.

Tell you mom I think she is raising you the wrong way, and that you will be socially and mentally disfunctionally because of it.

And tell your father he is an idiot for letting you be raised in such a shameful way.
Tell your mother that God will be with her, and let your father know that he has raised a wonderful child God gave him in need of some support
      Both my parents are dead.

They were killed in the 9/11 attack on the Twin Towers you ****ing jackass.

They were killed because of religion and one person didn't like what you though about something that isn't even REAL!
I'm sorry about your loss. Truly I am. Now it all comes together. It's not you, and your personal rebellion against God. It's your heart, broken. It makes me sad to see other people suffer. Really, it does. I wish there was some way I could help.
There is no rebellion you idiot.

      There is fact and reason.

I've been an atheist all my life, thank you.

I think that’s how I justified the same kinds of things when I was four years old. "He started it." I can understand why you'd be against religion. Really, I do. But I cant understand why you feel you have to be so malicious. And I know, theists can be, and often are, the same way. But that doesn't justify anything. There needs to be much more tolerance on both sides of the issue.

      Because it is an argument?

And he did start it. I just continued it.

If you don't like it, then don't read the thread.

So your purpose in doing this is to vent? Not to seek understanding or tolerance. Correct?

      What?

My purpose in demonstrating my own side of the arguments and talking to him was to attempt to understand his aruments while simultaneously trying to get him to see from my POV.

I said I was venting when I started throwing insults. That was my fault, I was getting frustrated after typing 10k words and having him not even read it.

      WHAT IS YOUR POINT?

My point is there is no reason to be so rude or antagonistic. I thought I made that clear.

      Hmhmm...

      Whatever.

I think completely failing to google the person I quoted and then failing to read my arguments, and then proclaim baseless ideas as fact is rude as well.

But you're right, I did start throwing insults around. In the last several posts.

He wasn't being rude. But he is very ignorent. I don't understand why so many people insist on taking every word or the Bible literally.

The Bible IS the religion, you can't decide to only believe parts of it. Can you only believe in parts of chemistry?

He wasn't beingrude in the sense of insults, but this isn't the first time I've talked with him, mind you.

I think seis is so antagonistic because he's a 15-year-old male with a lot of testosterone. That's my theory.

I think you did well, but the insults really don't flatter your argument. When you make them flee with their tail between their legs without insults it really makes the other creationists think as opposed to hurling insults in which they can take the "VenomFangX" approach and say they didn't debate (or continue to debate) due to the insults and/or bad language.

      x2

You argued well, but it is to no avail. He is amazingly ignorant and it's getting me very angry to read, so I don't read it all very much.

I'm going to start giving up on these arguments unless I think that either some sort of common ground, progress, or one of us coming to a conclusion will occur. This probably means that I'll significantly cut down on m religious arguing.

27 is right. Insults only discredit your argument in their mind. The best thing to do is stay calm and reasonable and let them get extremely angry first. Then you can call them on it and you've pretty much won.

Your parents really died in 9/11? If they did, I'm sorry. That's horrible.
