He is trying to imply that atheists are less happy which is, as always, a claim without evidence.

Really? That's a pretty convoluted way of saying something that has no substance to it anyway.

Inversely, I know of studies that say that religious persons, are less vulnerable to depression, are happier and live longer lives.

      For one, why "inversely."
      For two, link your studies.
Three, by whom are these experiments done? Legitimate scientists? Or a couple of shmoes with a religious bias and intent?
Four, what qualifies "happy?" I suppose I could say "religion is the opiate of the masses." It makes you happy in the same way pot makes you happy.

But ultimately, quote your source. Because at this point it is complete bullshit. Every atheist I know is just as happy as anyone else.

I'll do it later........ as in tommorow. Alternatively, until then, you could try looking yourself.

Seriously? You're going to post something and then go tell us to verify it ourselves?

Well, I did look. And I found genius things like this...
In fact, overall, the people who were most involved in their religions were 29% more likely to be alive when the various studies were completed than were their nonreligious counterparts.
Like, seriously? "I interviewed a bunch of people and they were 100% more likely to be alive while I was interviewing them." Hmm, interesting. Either that or they interviewed a bunch of REALLY damn old people. Furthermore, some places say "religion helps encourage healthy habits like eating well and exercising." For one, does it really? And secondly, that is really saying "religious people who exercise live longer than atheists who don't." Orly?

No doubt that if a religion encourages people to exercise and eat healthy, it can technically help people live longer. But if atheists exercise and eat healthy, than they can live longer too. In which case religion (well, the belief in god) is not what helps people live longer, what does though is things which people do in order to live longer.

This is a funny time to say this. Would have made sense to say it before you suggested it was true.

      Him: [ridiculous and absurd comment]
Someone else: Doubt there's any evidence.
Him: YEAH WELL I BET THERE IS *SOMEWHERE*
      Someone else: orly?
Him: YEAH UH... I ONCE HEARD STUDIES... THAT.... SHOW SOMETHING LIKE THAT...

I'm quite sure you said that yesterday.

And the second part of this is just a snide remark which we frankly don't need in this of all forums.

Edit: I'd advise Wasup not to feed it though by dignifying it with a response, because thats why this forum has its reputation. People like "Psychology" here tagging stuff like that on which really serves only to frustrate other people and up the anger level everywhere, making for argument rather than debate..

What! I didn't mean it offensively. You don't go to parties, or social occasions? I do? How old are you wasup? Late teens right?

By the way the studies are real, and credible. I just need to remember where I found them, so wait till tommorow.

It clearly was meant offensively from both the way in which you said it and the circumstances and the social connotations such a statement has. You need to revise your attitude to debate and try to remove the sarcastic and snide comments. These have no place in serious debate. I have nothing else to say on the matter as it only fuels the problems in R/S.

And for the record it is "tomorrow". Not "tommorow". You've done that 3 times this page.

No it wasn't meant offensively, and I didn't promise anything yesterday.

But I must admit that I am very sarcastic and you have shown me the error of my ways. Forgive, Omega Weapon for my sly comments, I beg you. Never again will such foul diction leave the sewer of my mouth. Never again, will I be sarcastic, never again. I will thoroughly revise my attitude, as I did for that test the other day; my revision worked for that test as my score was very good, infact the doctor commended me on the, above average, red blood cell count. Nonetheless, I solemnly promise that I will never be sarcastic again, or try to offend someone with a running joke. I solemnly promise. The fountain of my irony has been emptied.

I will also work on my spelling, tommmmmorrow

You missed 16, well, unless your including ALL religion and not just mainstream, I think the non christian mainstream are good on it too though. You guys argue too much hehe.

52: Makes prescription (or any drugs used appropriately that do not cause harm) alright. Supposedly many religions are supposed to prohibit using medicinal drugs because it is an offense to god or some such because it effects your blood.
