Hey, I'm totally down with the gist of his message. In fact, I probably understand and agree with his true message more than most Christians. And I also believe his message has facets of universal morality and truth (I'm talking about morals, not God) to it. Now, others may have also come across these truths, like Buddha or Muhammed. But there is a thing known as an allegory. Sometimes it's easier to convey a message using a story about a single person. The Greeks had Hercules and Hector, and now the Christians have Jesus.

I know where you coming from. I wouldn't consider most christians to be followers of jesus. I mean they wear shit that says what would jesus do, but do they ever stop to think what he would do? He sell everything he owned, and go preach that we need to love everyone. But people are to attached to their material possesions to really understand the message.

and I really don't think it's just a story. I mean the bible claims jesus did some pretty ridiculous things, and I think a lot of it is exaggeration, but their are even crazier claims about buddha. I've read one story where someone asks the buddha, How do beings attain enlightenment in other dimensions. The buddha like snaps his fingers or something and they travel to another dimension where to attain enlightenment you just wait until you are "ripe" and then go sit under this tree.

Who do you think made the story up and what was their purpose? Because all explanations I've found have just as little if not less evidence than there is for his existance.

I'm not trying to say the bible is right or anything. He obviously wasn't born of a virgin. That would just be asexual reproduction, which would be fuckin weird. I just think their a good chance some enlightened dude lived back then and tried to show people the way. Do you doubt the existance of other supposed prophets at the time like John the baptist as well?

I don't know enough about John the Baptist to answer that. But I will say that any time someone writes about a supposed prophet hundreds of years after the fact, the truthfulness of the story is dubious at best.

Agreed. besides that they created the bible as we know it even after that. Its been mistranslated and changed numerous times. Christianity has been a bit weird of a religion from the begining but after the council of nicea the religion was completly corrupted. It had some potential at one point but not anymore. Probly not much after the first 200 years.
