Investigating Shared Dreaming w/ the Scientific Method

I want to conduct an experiment with shared dreaming. You will go to sleep, and try to see each other in your dream. If you need a specific location, then go to the "moonbase" of WakingNomad on the Moon if you like. Now the science part: draw something in the moon dust, and sign your SCREEN NAME underneath it. Please don't tell other people what did you write, and ask people to find it and give it to you. Then everybody should report what they wrote and what they got back.

I have also been trying to think of scientific methods for testing shared dreaming. This sounds like a good idea, I'll try it in my next LD.

I'd put this in 'Beyond Dreaming' rather than 'Research,' but you'd really need an impartial 3rd party (I'd even say a sceptical party that doesn't believe in Shared Dreaming but you trust not to fudge the results). Because I really would not put it past people to say "Yeah- that's what I saw" or "Yeah, that's what I drew" just to feel validated. Needless to say not many clinical experiments are done in forums on the internet.

True. It is going to be pretty much impossible to prove (or even disprove) shared dreaming to a sceptic as the you have to experience it for yourself, which is something a sceptic would/could never do. The most of the tests are those like this one. The dreamers are the only ones who will know the truth (whether that be shared dreaming confirmed or otherwise).

I think the best way is to PM you. Then we post here saying we did the first task (writing something). Once you receive confirmation from someone else with what we wrote, post a screen shot of your PM. This would remove the notion that it was doctored in anyway. It's not clinical or scientific at all since there is going to be some bias on your part, being human and all, but it'll give justification to people who experience it. I'd love to take part in this, but I am barely getting regular lucids, much less attempting this. One day, maybe.

I think that this experiment has very little room for error. For example, if A writes "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog" and B sees it the next day, that is very good proof of shared dreaming. I could not possibly fudge the results, but the participants might, by PMing and discussing what to write. I think that there should be admin/moderator supervisation of this thing. If that can be done, this is a great experiment! P.S. I have devised a SURE way to have a FAKE shared dream. You and a friend write a script of what will happen, memorize everybody's lines, and go to sleep at the same time. Then say what you should say and control the DC's the way you are supposed to be, and bingo, a shared dream.

To "research" shared dreaming, you need a sleep lab and third party testers, complete controlled test environment. Other then that it is proving it to yourself, not others. WakingNomad has said he has tried to contact people to prove shared dreaming. He said he noone got back to him

We need to consider a few things though: Dream Recall: both parties need to remember what they wrote and where they wrote it. Text: it changes in dreams, this means that even if it was a shared dream what they might read could be different. Time: do both parties need to stay active on the same time? Experience: self explainatory, we need experienced people who can summon portals or travel through the dream worlds easily.
