Question Shared Dreaming: Semi Passable Scientific Explanation Anyone?

      Hi all!

Im pretty new to the whole LD scene, but as of yet I've failed to glimpse even the merest semi-congruent scientific validation for shared dreaming. I know most people will just say that there isnt one, and that shared dreaming is in a wholy spiritual/psychic clasification, but just for knowledge's sake, IS there any semblance of scientific theory on the matter?

I more than most would love for this whole thing to be true and possible, and perhaps hearing some of your vastly more experienced comments I can start to make my own thoughts on the matter. Thanks!!!

It hasn't been even tried other than that thread, which hasn't been posted in since 4/7. I don't know of anything else, anywhere. It just isn't an easy thing to prove scientifically. (You'd have to prove beyond all doubt that the people were sharing a dream.)

People pairing up, making a meeting location, exchanging codewords, and switching partners around based on success. (I.E. The least successfull would be placed with the most successfull)

I see. But still, it's an experiment being conducted in non-regulated circumstances correct? I mean, any of the participants could be simply lying about their results can't they? I guess I'll have to look into it with the actual participants, but still! Any and all ventures leading us to a more comprehensive understanding of this phenomenon are assuredly welcome!

OK, this isn't up to scientific standards, but here is an interesting link:

Here is his member page with a bunch of other links on it:

I don't know how convincing it is. IMO it seems like one of those unscientific things, where first you have to believe it is possible before it can be done, which is anti-science of course.

It is unscientific. Right now. Its something we don't understand. Way back when, the rising and falling of the sun was unscientific, people had no ideas. They could make up theories, but had no idea.

Shared dreaming is still technically a hypothesis, and setting up valid, repeatable experiments is relatively tricky, scientifically speaking. Turns out, getting a couple of proficient shared dreamers to the appropriate facilities is hard as hell. Because of this, valid results from a scientific standpoint have not been drawn. So, your guess is as good as any. I suppose M-theory may have something to do with the matter, being as big and vague as it is, but again, just a fleeting thought, not even really a hypothesis. Alternately, perhaps there really is some invisible, unobservable plane of reality beyond our own that sleeping taps into. Or, maybe aliens get a kick out of messing with the dreams of folks on lucid dreaming forums. Who knows? If it is real, it isn't supernatural, as we can observe it in the natural plane. What it could mean is that there is technology or physical forces beyond our current comprehension.

Testing with an experiment is the hard part, and it's the part we've been trying to come up with an answer for. We have the question, the background research is all on this forum already, and we have a hypothesis. We basically already know the expected results, and analyzing is easy, since there's only two possibilities.
Part of the problem with constructing a valid experiment is the requirements for participating in the experiment, namely the ability to lucid dream. To actually set up a valid experiment, you'd need a significant population of people who can lucid dream, have never had any prior contact, and are willing to gather in monitored conditions.
That's why I said in the other thread that we need a separate website if we want any hope of constructing this experiment. It would be possible to attempt to teach people how to lucid dream, while denying them any contact with any other participants. Any member of and LDing forum is basically already excluded, so a separate website is the only way.

Actually, you don't really need lucid dreamers to make a valid experiment, the problem is only who will do it, I plan on conducting an experiment on that for my tesis, but yeah, that will be in a long way.

Anyway, as many have said, there is no scientific explanation for it, nor something that would explain it, or at least not that I know of.

You need lucid dreamers who can lucid dream at will.

Or else you settle for a hard experiment.
