      Sleep dep rem boost experiment

      this experiment is to research the effectiveness of sleep deprivation as a lucid aid. I will be depriving myself of one full night of sleep. The following day, at noon, i will nap for 2 hours, then that night i will wake up after 6 hours , stay awake for an 30 min or so, then attempt SSILD or WILD to see if i can get a nice, long, and stable lucid.

      from now (00:04 AM, Pacific standard time) until 8:00 AM, I will make a report on my progress every half hour.

      Phase 1: Sleep deprivation
      Phase 2: The day after
      Phase 3: The night of the experiment

      it is now 12:31 AM, pacific standard time. I read a few of my old DV posts, then watched some porn, then played some skill games. I don't feel noticeably tired, so so far so good. My next post will be in 30 minutes.

      It is now 1:03 AM, Pacific standard time.

      The last half hour, I have been writing for my new lucid dreaming blog(work in progress), and have managed to stay quite alert. The night is uneventful so far. I hope I succeed.

      I am encountering sever fatigue. To battle boredom, I am reading up on WILD for the coming night.

      Experiment modified. I will remain awake til 3, then wake up at 8 and attempt WILD.

      when does the phase 2 begin?

      My two cents: a whole day of sleep deprivation sounds counterproductive to me, and above all bad for the body (immune system, and everything) because of the Deep sleep you are missing.

      In my opinion, the rebound you have depend on the sleep stage you are missing, and some stages are more important than other, so they happens in priority.
      this is the case of Deep sleep, where your body and vital functions are regenerating.
      I don't see any reason to deprive oneself from deep sleep as it only will result in deep sleep rebound, and this sounds useless for LD.

      No LD technique should be based on such a hard pain to the body and health.

      Non the less, I'm curious about what will happen for you DL1

      phase 2 is a 2-hour nap at noon to shrug off a bit of deep sleep, so that in phase 3(tomorrow, err... tonight) I have something more closely approaching a normal sleep schedule, just with lengthened REM.

      Oh, and don't worry about the sleep dep, I went for 80 hours for a science project, so I'm pretty much immune.
