FDILD - False Dream Induced Lucid Dream

Ok, this may not prove to be effective, but I thought of it after reading Stephen Laberge's Book EWOLD:

Dreams are made up of Expectations and beliefs. What you expect ot happen in a dream makes it happen.
So going by this, I thought up a method that might work.

Each night when you wake up, write up a false dream in which you became lucid. Be sure to include something in it that can be a dream sign. After about a week, you should try to believe you had that dream, and expect to have more similar ones to it.

Eventually you should start really expecting to realize your dreaming, and once you dream, that expectation should happen in the dream, and presto, Lucid Dream.

Of course this could throw off your whole Dream Journal thing, so Only try this as a last resort.

That's actually a very interesting method, and I think it might have some potential, even if it does screw up your dream journal. It's definitely worth testing.

That does sound like it might work. But you have to make up a different name becaue FILD = finger induced lucid dream already. Which by the way only worked 1.5 times for me.

Very interesting indeed, as you say dreams are made of expectations. If you expect to be able to fly, then you will. If you expect to become lucid, then you probably will.

For the name I think that EILD could work (Expectation induced lucid dream) and I think it's more suitable than FILD.

To prevent your DJ from screwing up, you could keep writing up your dreams normally, but you could create a "false" journal, writing up the lucid dreams as if you had had them. I don't think that just putting your dreams aside and sticking to the "false" dreams would be better, but I guess only experimentation will tell us.

Anyway, I would suggest that you post it in the reaserch area and start experimenting. I'm up to try the technique by the way.

Interresting that you, like me, have been trying to find out what dreams are made of in the first place. I am planning on buying LaBerge's book too. I really want it to read before bedtime.

If I have it, and learn alot about the Nature of dreams of it I will start researching for more techniques as to Induce Lucid Dreams. I wanna know everything about dreaming and how and why...

So is this FILD like where we write the dream we would like to have. For instance, I met so and so, and did such and such, as if I wanted it to happen? Would this mean that later I may have actual dreams about that which I wrote?

Maybe it would help to re-read lucid dreams that you had in the past, or someone elses, and protend you had it, just an idea.

Its all about expectation. The more Lucid Dreams you make up in your journal, the easier it will become to make them up, and eventually you'll be thinking about your next lucid dream, and you'll expect yourself to make one up, and this creativity should come with you into the dream world where you start to think about the next lucid dream you have, thus triggering your sense that you are dreaming.

This does sound like it might work.
I'd like to know the results too. I think it's been a few weeks.

If anyone has results, could you please PM them to me (I might forget about this topic over time) .

Thanks.

I gave this Method a try, and didn't have any luck with it, but I don't think I was trying hard enough. After Reading the Book, I think I have a better understanding of how it should work though.

The main goal, is to get your mind into the mind set of recognizing false dream signs, and hopefully with enough focus on a particular Dream Sign, incorporate it into the actual dream, and knowing that its a dream sign, immediately recognize it. This works especially well with common things, such as if you write in your journal:

"As I walked outside, I noticed something out of the ordinary, and it prompted me to do a Reality Check."

And if you stick with common themes like that, then when something common happens in your dream, you should start to expect to notice something kind of odd that should tip you off its a dream.

And Yay for ressurecting an old thread. But this method has potential, so I thought it worth it, especially with the bigger increase in member base.

Sounds worth trying. As for the Dream Journal just use seperate sheets of paper, because your wasting notebooks for just 1 techneque that might not work. Lol, i'm an environmental guy; ya know?

Lol, I just store all my dreams Electronically, writing it down on paper is too much work for me. Anyway, I've been keeping tabs in my mind of all my dreams so far, and got a couple made up with some dream signs already.

My dreams are getting to the point now, where they seem really familiar and I can predict what will happen, but I can't quite push myself over that boundry and say "Its a dream!".
