      Sleep Positions and Lucidity

      Sleep Positions and Lucidity
Currently Closed - study under review

      Overview
I'm interested in the relationship between sleep positions and lucidity -- mainly the question, "does the way you sleep effect your dreams/lucidity?" Many people think that sleeping on your back is the best way to achieve lucidity, but this may not be true -- and i will find out in this study! Though this may just be a survey, i do plan to test these positions.

Please participate; it'll give everyone a chance to be more comfortable when dreaming!

      The Positions
I will be using the six positions BBC described as sleep positions related to personality. Namely, these positions:

      The Questions
      Please fill out this questionnaire:

The positions: Foetus, Log, Yearner, Soldier, Freefaller, Starfish (see above)

      Part 1: SLEEP POSITIONS:
1.) What position do you regularly fall asleep in, regardless of lucidity?
      -1a) Do you dream?
      -1b) Are you lucid?
2.) When trying to become Lucid, what position do you usually fall asleep in?
      -2a) Do you dream?
      -2b) Are you lucid?
3.) Have you ever tried another position to become Lucid?
      -3a) What position?
      -3b) Were you successful?

      Part 2: RECALL:
1.) In your regular sleeping position, do you usually have good recall?
-1a) About how many dreams per week do you recall, Lucid or not?
2.) In your "Lucid" sleep position, do you usually have good recall?
-2a) About how many intentional lucid dreams per week do you recall?
3.) If you have tried another position to become lucid, how good was your recall?
-3a) If you regularly do this, how many dreams per week do you recall?

Thank you for being a part of this!

for some reason, best way to fall asleep for me is on my back with the inside of my elbow on my forehead. Never to much luck without being on my back.

for recall I'll do your test
      1) yes its my regular sleeping position. My recall is at LEAST 1 a night
      2) lucid dreams a week, typically when I'm in the mind set of it I am about 80% lucid on my first dream and I recall it easily. Not lucid probably 7-8 dreams a week. Sometimes I do get like 5 a night I recall.
3)for intentional lucid dreaming- I'm as I said about 3/4 times I can lucid dream. the other I might just not remember. But, my ability to lucid is very high. If scientists want to study a person in the lucid state I think I'd be good for it, I've been able to lucid dream since I was a very young boy. I remember running from a bee in my old apartment when I lived there. And then realizing how can this be real its a green witch. I moved out of there when I was 7 so before that I was lucid. I just never knew people didn't do it.

Honestly other positions I can't do my personal technique and have it work. My feelings of floating up in the air and stuff are hindered due to lack of free feeling.

      Part 1: SLEEP POSITIONS:
1.) What position do you regularly fall asleep in, regardless of lucidity?
      Mostly freefaller, also Foetus.
      -1a) Do you dream?
Yes, but way more if I oversleep (and I might change positions from foetus to freefaller during night)
      -1b) Are you lucid?
      Not that much.
2.) When trying to become Lucid, what position do you usually fall asleep in?
Soldier if WILD, freefaller/foetus (normal) for DILDs.
      -2a) Do you dream?
If I fail a WILD by dozing off, yes
      -2b) Are you lucid?
Never succeeded a full WILD, usually I lose lucidity.
3.) Have you ever tried another position to become Lucid?
      No.

      Part 2: RECALL:
1.) In your regular sleeping position, do you usually have good recall?
      I'd say average.
-1a) About how many dreams per week do you recall, Lucid or not?
A bit more than 1 per night, if I work on it. About 12 week.
2.) In your "Lucid" sleep position, do you usually have good recall?
Not a difference that I can trace from my normal position.
-2a) About how many intentional lucid dreams per week do you recall?
      Intentional? None xD
3.) If you have tried another position to become lucid, how good was your recall?
Bad, had a bad night of sleep.

      Any questions, just go ahead

You're neglecting the orientation of one's bed..

IMO For the strongest LDing, it should be:

      Head=North
      Feet=South.

lol interesting. Using the earths magnetic field to make you lucid? What about in the southern hemisphere same idea? since the poles pull opposite it should be right? and what about off the coast of peru, where the poles are switched. and no actual way to tell NSEW..

I don't know why it works, b12, but it does. I've tested the different orientations and head=north feet=south is definitely the best for LDing..IMO.

      Hi b12,

Not sure if you've seen this : http://www.lucidity.com/DreamYoga.html

The suggestion is that there may be a difference between the sexes, also that there may be a differences between lying on the left or right side. I'm thinking it might be worth gathering a bit more information in your questionnaire.

to oneiro whatever works is good for you. Everyone is different. Just I was curious on different places of the world if its the same. If you wanted the current to run from weak at the bottom and go towards your head. For example southern hemisphere. You use the oposing directions.
