      Scild

I have a technique that I use that has probably been used by others, but I thought I would post it anyway. I call this technique "SCILD" or Subject Content Induced Lucid Dreaming, but I have found this works great for non-lucid dreaming as well.

Simply put, if there's a particular theme/subject/person you are trying to dream about, try to focus on that thing, whatever it is, at some point during the day. If you think about it, our dreams are recycled ideas and images of our waking experiences, and if we concentrate on something we want to dream about during the day, it will most likely show up in our dreams.

Now, I am not suggesting spending a huge amount of time on this. Maybe spend 5 - 10 minutes maximum at some point throughout the day. I find shortly before going to sleep works best.

Here are some examples of what I am talking about:

      1. Watch something related to what you want to dream about: If it's a celebrity, watch a movie, tv show, or a Youtube video that the celebrity stars in. If it's a musician, listen to their music, etc. You get the idea. Using this technique, I have had about eight dreams, about 1/4 lucid and 3/4 non-lucid, about a celeb in the past month!

      2. Dream Incubation: I realize this is another technique used by many dreamers but, when combined with SCILD, the effectiveness can be multiplied. Simply think about what you want to dream about, and create a scenario, or a plot for your dream. This can be done in conjunction with #1.

thedogsmeow, I've tried something similar to this but never got it to work.

I think I'll give it another try using what you've suggested.

Are you using dream incubation as a way to achieve lucidity? I do this sometimes.

I will incubate a certain subject, say, The Beach. Then, I will use The Beach as my dreamsign. So you end up creating your own dreamsigns.

I play Xbox a lot before I go to bed. The night that I didn't play it, I had a dream about it. Hmm.

As for the technique, sounds pretty simple, I don't think it would work for me. I usually don't dream about what I did the previous day.

Hey, I see BillyBob posted a link to my tutorial on his overview of all the LD tutorials on here - thanks!

I guess it is a form of dream incubation because you're concentrating on the person/thing you want to dream about.

Basically, SCILD is doing things in your waking life so that they will end up in your dreams. As we usually dream about things we do/experience in the waking world, SCILD will help you incorporate things you want to dream about in your dreams.

And I in no way am condoning doing anything illegal either!

oh i've done something similar to this. I would just read a book that I was really into before I fell asleep or during WBTB. Since I was so into it, I had a dream about it nearly every night during my reading, and since it was in a series, it lasted a long time. It worked pretty well, although I wasn't really doing it as a technique... I just realized that I kept dreaming about it and told myself to RC next time.

Yep, and the thing is, they're all variations of wild, dild, and the the other basic techniques. So basically they're all the same thing using a different anchor.

      Question

Do you think this could also work by looking at a photograph of someone? I would like to see relative who has passed and all I have is a photo...
