So I just now remembered something I saw a few years back, about this idea of global consciousness - sizeable world events affecting the randomness of random number generators, supposedly because of the change in tide (as it were) of a large number of individual consciousnesses.

Assuming this phenomenon is real, what, if anything, does this say about consciousness, apart from that it's not confined to our skulls? Are there implications that I haven't realised (after admittedly only thinking about it for ten minutes)?

Has anyone found any interesting scientific research related to this? Where are we right now when it comes the scientific understanding of consciousness and its reach/functionality?
