Astronomers Find Biggest Black Holes Yet

Astronomers report that they have discovered the most gigantic black holes ever found in the universe, an abyss 10 times the size of our solar system, encompassing regions or "event horizons" about five times the distance from the sun to Pluto or about 2,500 times as massive as the black hole at the center of the Milky Way.

...That's pretty f'ckin big, yo.

Aren't black holes supposed to be just one point of incredible amounts of mass? I guess the gravitational field (from which no one can escape) is used to specify its size.

Yeah. They measure the size of the event horizon - which is the area around the high-mass object, where things actually begin to get trapped in the gravitational field. However big the event horizon is, is how big the black hole is said to be.
