time machine

If you could live in anytime that has ever been when would you live, where would you live and why?

I think i would live a couple thousands of years ago on a farm in teh middle of nowhere because things would of been so much simpler there.

Hmm, I'd have to say to 1969 or so, I'd make a brilliant hippy.

because computers ruled back then

nowadays they're just ghey, back then they weren't as complicated so it wasn't as easy to track people and put stupid locks on stuff and DRM

2006, California. Good time to be alive.

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

Now. Or maybe in the future. Of in fuedal Japan. Or in the hippy age. I would actually steal the time machine and live for a few years in many times.
need to actually start like trying to LD i've pretty much started that now kinda.

Yeah, being a hippy would be awesome - seems to be a popular answer.

jeez I would never wanna be a hippie. And I bet you'd never expect me to say that. Don't worry, it's not because I don't like hippies, it's because I'd hate to get my hopes up that high and then see my ideals come crashing down and then become the subject of mockery, and then see america go in the complete opposite direction for a few decades. No, I'd rather live right here right now while the odds are against me, that way I can do the most good.

Tough question. I'd say... now. I wouldn't use it, if I had no choice but to stay in the period I was travelling to.

That's hard.
Because wouldn't living in a different time period mean that you'd no longer know the people you do now?

I don't think I could give up alot of my friendships and relationships.

I think I'd like to live around the time of the Pirates of the Caribbean
Lord of the Rings quotes:

"Behold, I am not Gandalf the Grey, whom you betrayed. I am Gandalf the White, who has returned from death. You have no colour now, and I cast you from the order and from the Council." - Gandalf to Saruman, The Two Towers

"Men of Gondor and Rohan, my brothers! I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of Men fails... when we forsake our friends, and break all bonds of fellowship... but it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields when all hope comes crashing down, but it is NOT this day! This day, we fight! For all that you hold dear, stand, Men of the West! - Aragorn

"Far off yet is his doom, and not by the hand of man will he fall." - Glorfindel

"in Rivendell there live still some of his chief foes: the Elven-wise, lords of the Eldar from beyond the furthest seas. They do not fear the Ringwraiths, for those who have dwelt in the Blessed Realm live at once in both worlds, and against both the Seen and the Unseen they have great power." - Gandalf

It's not so much a time machine as it is a DODGEBALL CANNON.

I think I'd transport myself back about ten minutes or at least to some point where I could try and startle myself. I mean, just sneak up behind myself and go, "BWAHHGHGHGH!" or something similar. Then I'd turn around and see myself and we'd both have a good laugh! Then my present self could look forward to being my future self. Ah, good times.

Actually, I'm satisfied with the present.

And then you get stuck in some Outer Limits style infinite loop and startle yourself forever.

Teeheehee nice one.
I think I'd have to go back to when I was really young, about 9-12 or something and laugh at myself and my little friends. As well as corrupting my past self with my present self's presence
I'd just have to take my music with me, and possibly my computer.
