      RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome)

      I have RLS.
It sounds something like ADD judging by the name, but it isn't at all.
It is just the need to move my legs, while I'm stationary.

At night time, it sucks balls.
I'm lying there comfortably when all of a sudden I feel this feeling in my legs.
It is like this wierd tightening sensation, and when I move my legs, or roll over it feels way better.
Then about ten seconds later, I have to roll over again.
There are worse things that I could have, but it just sucks because it takes me like 2 hours to fall asleep at night.
But one thing I found that helps is watching lots of TV.
And once I'm asleep it's no problem.

Lots of people have it without even knowing too.
I didn't even know until I saw an ad about it on TV and was like, hey, that sounds like me.
Then I asked my doctor and she said I did have it.

Don't know what the point of this thread is, but I'm just saying it blows.

      lol.
      Yeah, it does suck.
But when I'm tired, I can still go to sleep no problem.
I mean, there is a lot worse things out there to have, and I'm lucky that it is only this.

My doctor said that she could prescribe some stuff, but she said I was too young

Its not all that bad, its just mostly when I'm initially falling asleep.
Reading and watching TV usually helps though.

The trick is exercise during the day. Run a mile or something, and RLS shouldnt be there.

I was diagnosed with RLS about a year ago. Luckily, it was just when they released the very first Rx for it, Requip. I'm not happy with Requip's side-effects, but they rock compared to how I feel without it.

I get much more restful sleep now.

Are you still taking Requip? What effects has Requip or other medications had on your dreams? More or less Lucid? Did you go to a Neurologist to get diagnosed for RLS? Just curious because that is where I'm going in a couple of weeks to get diagnosed.

Yes, I'm still taking it. I think if anything it may possibly help with my lucid dreaming. I say this only because it knocks me out quickly, while it used to take me ages to fall asleep.

If you end up getting this medication, you should know that it takes a long time before your body "settles in" to a pattern with it. One thing it does to me is sometimes almost knock me out completely with little or no warning at all. What I started doing is taking half of my dose at about 9pm and the other half at about 11pm, or just before bed. This has eliminated the worst of the effects, so I'm pretty happy.

I absolutely can not sleep without the medication since my RLS has gotten very bad. Even taking it too late can mean 45 minutes of torture while I wait for it to kick in. It sucks to be so dependant on a drug, but here I am.

Oh, and one last thing... be very careful and ask a lot of questions if your doctor prescribes Gabapentin. This drug has some very nasty side-effects for most people, and some not too nice associated risks.
