I'e only been alive for two years (yet I'm not two years old, and I have the knowledge of someone over twice my physical age) and it's already coming to an end.

technically I didn't even live out my first year,

Could someone please explain to me why some people think the world will end in 2012?

Because at this is the last year in the ancient Mayan calendar.
Personally I just think it's like the Y2K bug, the Maya didn't continue their calendar after 2012 because they didn't bother to think so far ahead.

explain how uve only been alive 2 years u only get 7 years to live?

the 2012 thing has some signifigance.. the earth alines with the sun wich points to the center of the the galaxy. and when that happens the earths electromagnetic feield is supposed to shift. there is sientific fact that earths electromagnetism has an effect on the way the mind works. not only that it will cause mass chaos just like y2k... because ships and what not wont know what direction they are going right away untill the EM shifts stop.

I don't actually believe the december 23d 2012 thing.

December 9th 2007 is the day you have to watch out for.

Maybe the calendar only ended on that day because the Mayans didn't finish it.

The way they made the calendar was some strange number system, so you'd have to start over from 2012, or something like that

In 2012 the Mayan calender ends.. a cycle, it's thirteenth I think.

December 12th 2012 is supposed to be a day of Transition into either The Golden Age or an Age of Chaos and Self Destruction, which we're already on the path too.

The 2012 thing is bullshit, the Mayan calender end after the year 4000. not 2012. the 2012 date is just there way of saying "on this date we will go form the 1800's to the 1900's" thats it! there wasn't even anything special about THAT date, just that its the end of the age. The calender is very advanced but it is impossible to predict the future. New agers always use this as a way to spread fear and bullshit beliefs.

Really think about it, how many times has a "end of the world foreseer" been right?

I was friends at one point with the people who made the "Demon War" of 2012, anyone remember ki-teachings? Well if not, they had this whole hoax thing going, they claimed Demons were going to arrive in 2012 and in doing so, they would destroy everything.

Kids being kids, believed it, and began training for the event, Dragonball Z style. Radical Ki "users" began popping up everywhere with there own ki sites to try and put a stop to the threat.

The people who came up with the hoax have admitted that it was a hoax, and well ya, slowly over time these websites died. You can still find radki sites around.

Anyway, I have my own theory of 2012, it doesn't end in destruction, although in my dreams, I died.

After all, many of the cold-war era weapons systems designed for mutually assured destruction are still active in Russia and the US; about two dozen US nuclear subs patrol the oceans constantly, waiting for an order to launch their massive nuclear payloads. The world has been one false alarm/accident from annihilation for decades. It could happen next week or twenty years from now. 2012 is an arbitrary year for the world to end.

Nobody in their right mind would launch nukes, they know what will happen if they do. Its a death wish...
