And I'm usually just online to talk to my friends and catch up on celebrity gossip... because I really don't have a life

In order of importance:

1. DV, of course. Although I never go in chat - I'm not witty enough and I type slow. So only threads for me, and nothing too deep.

2. Games - namely "Sword of the New World" which is a lesser known but incredible MMORPG.

3. Research

I had to say "other things," because my being "online" has now encompassed more than 22 years.

I was on the internet long before the World Wide Web and HTML made everything so accessible. I became acquainted with it through my amateur radio interests, when we tied our local packet radio network into the 'net.

Then I learned how to hack directly in through MERIT using my NOS setup. There was no turning back. In those days, we used TelNet to get into bulletin board systems, FTP to trade files, GOPHER to find stuff, and UseNet for the news type stuff.

It is just part of my life, not much different from talking or writing. It's something I do.

The saga continues...

Do you mean online or just on DV as your answers seem to be geared towards being on DV...

Why isn't being bored on there?

if we are talking DV then it's because i like to read all the stuff in the lounge and the sub-forums like R&S.

Net wise is usually other forums( no myspace or facebook though... i'm to lazy to update stuff, tried once, failure( especially when like 100 ppl u dont know add you..)

or research into interesting stuff. Also modding of games i have.

My purpose for being online is to inhibit the online experience of other people.

Main reason would have to be - to chat to my baby.
Second, chat to friends.
Third, just to pass the time.

Heh, I think DreamGlimpse has not discovered the internet beyond DV. These days I mainly hit DV for the stated purpose--LD and other sleep/dream research and discussion.

As the average age of DV's userbase has trended downward, I've mostly migrated elsewhere for debate and community (SL + RL mainly for the latter), but I still like to poke my head in to make sure 'the kids 're alright.'
