I would love to prove to you that I am not deaf, but there is a big catch. Namely, that I actually am deaf.

Yes, I know that some of that music has had me singing in it. You might wonder how I stayed on key. It's called Auto-tune, and it's the same technology that keeps the likes of Britney Spears from being thrown out of the studio.

Yes, I know I've expressed my opinion of trendy progressive rock music in some threads, but it really had more to do with the groovy album artwork than anything else.

So there it is... I am deaf. If you do not believe it, please prove I am lying.... once that is settled, we can address your original challenge.

Technically it can't be proven, over the internet or in person, that any facet of consciousness does or doesn't exist. For example, if I tried to prove to you that I can see, I might devise an experiment involving written text or flash cards. But you can always say I had a series of lucky guesses or special insight. This, of course, all leads back to the issue of qualia and the Chinese Room.

No silly the point is to prove to me you're not deaf over the internet. If I were to talk with you in real life while your eyes were closed then I could know you're not deaf.
