      meaning of dream characters of the past

      I have always gotten very strong feelings from dreaming about people who I knew in the past. One particular person I dream about every so often is my ex girlfriend. She's the only girl I've felt truly passionate about and when she appears in my dreams I always feel both happy and sad when I wake up. I'm never lucid while she's there.

      A more recent experience has been that my best friend from the 8th grade appeared in one of my dreams very recently. It was very strange, we were happy to meat again and he said he had a boyfriend and said he was gay now. My friend was never gay and I don't know the meaning of this... but it was really weird. When I woke up I really missed him though, it gave me a feeling much like the one I get from my ex.

      Does anybody else experience anything like this. What is my brain trying to tell myself?

      Well when you think about it, the same things happen sometimes in RL. I imagine your subconscious picked up on a way you'd possibly react, so in the dream when you saw them, those emotions were the highest in your 'repertoire' of reactions.

      Sorry if that made no sense. Words defeat me ATM. =p

      Eh...I view dream interpretation as unreliable, at best. Dreams can cobble together just about any random series of thoughts and make a viable story from them. Furthermore, different sorts of "symbols" mean different things to everybody; we are all unique. Unless your friend being gay becomes a recurring element, I wouldn't worry about it too much. And yes, I know exactly what you're talking about with the happy/sad thing...I've fallen in love with DC's before, only to find out it was all a dream later on. I really love this feeling, though...Quietly protesting the 10 character limit.
