Melatonin is safe for me.. right?

I just got some melatonin supplements because I couldn't sleep and I wanted to try to do the REM rebound thing. So I bought it and I looked at he Label and it said I should be 16+ Im not quite 16 yet does that mean it's still safe? Im in my teans I figure since its melatonin and the body natrually produces it, I didn't think I should not really worry about it.
I was also reading online that a 3mg pill(what I got) was alot more than the body needed and it said that I should cut the pill in half, just wondering if I should take any precautions or anyting I should know.

You should be fine. Actually, less is better. Take the smallest amount you can possible take. Just bite of a little. I've read some things that said melatonin isn't so affective for a lot of people is because we've overdosed on it the first time we try it, which is the 3 mg.
