Re-living events when trying to fall asleep?

This has happened to me a bunch of times throughout my life and I always found it really strange.

Last week I was at an august burns red concert, and once I got home and went to bed, i felt like i was at the concert again because it wasn't actually finished and I would look really stupid if I started sleeping during the concert. I would snap out of it for a second and realize im in my room and there are no people there then I would go back into this half dreaming half concious state.

It's not just concerts, like this one time in grade 6 after a basketball practice I went to bed then it felt like I was still at the practice and I couldn't sleep because people were all around me watching me because I was trying to sleep in the middle of a practice.

The same thing happened after this one dance, it felt like I was back at the dance because it wasn't over yet and I didnt want to fall asleep because I was at the dance but I was really tired and just wanted to sleep.

I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about this, because if its some sort of sleep paralysis could I turn it into a lucid dream?

Has anyone else ever experienced this?

I haven't quite had that happen to me, but I have fallen asleep in class before. I could still hear the lecture and see the markerboard in my dream, so I never realize I had nodded off until I open my eyes and notice that something different is written on the board.

It seems like it usually happens to you after big events or celebrations. That's likely because you are still running through the events in your mind as you fall asleep and your subconscious picks up on it and uses it for dream content. You may want to try focusing on something else before you go to bed after these events, or winding down for a little longer before heading off to bed or maybe just telling someone about the event so that you can leave your mind blank for sleep.

I get this- usually when I'm hyped out after work- when I used to do bar work or when I have to work late at the office. Also, August Burns Red are awesome im probably right in thinking you were buzzing and overtired after one of their gigs!
