      Depends, sometimes it takes hours (like last night), sometimes I need to read for half an hour and then I'm good. It's only when I've been drinking or didn't sleep the night before or have taken a sleeping pill or something that I can get into bed and fall asleep in 5 or 10 minutes.

      It sucks.

      It usually takes me a very long time, but this is usually because my sleep schedule is all over the place. I suppose the fact that whenever I sit down I begin to buzz with all the things I have to do tommorow, all the problems I haven't solved, a 'debriefing' on what I did all I day, etc, doesn't help either. I can't do with sitting there basically letting my brain go to sludge, though.

      If I'm not sick or sore, I fall asleep almost immedately when I go to bed. Of course I stay up till 2:30 am.
      Wake up at 7:30 am and feel perfectly refreshed after 5 or so hours of sleep.

      I used to go to bed at 11pm or 12am but would end up tossing and turning for hours. So I took the time and experimented. Started with an attempted 8 hours of sleep and gradually widdled that down to 5 hours and found out 5 hours is perfect for me. I wake up feeling refreshed and relaxed and can usually spring right out of bed in the mornings now. Don't even need coffee anymore.

      So by finding out how many hours of sleep suited me I found the perfect bed time. 2:30 am. That way I'm good and tired and fall asleep almost immedately.

      when im done bouncin around less then 5 min. but i go to bed at like 1

      I usually take about five or ten mins to get to sleep on a normal day. I go to bed at around one or two, then get up for school at seven. When i'm on holiday and I've had a good twelve hours sleep to catch up, it can take more like forty mins.

      Adopted Megabenman although he disappeared a while ago.

      I usually have to read for awhile to get tired enough to actually fall asleep.
      If I don't read first, it can take 30-45 mins to fall asleep.

      At least an hour if I'm tired and feel like I should sleep.

      If I'm awake and roused... well let's just say I stay awake, lol.

      How? I dunno, I never actually remember falling asleep. Normally, one minute I'll be lying in bed wondering why I'm not asleep yet, and the next it'll be morning wondering when and how I actually fell asleep!

      That seems to be the problem, at least for me, with a lot of the methods on inducing LDs, or even dream recall. Like saying to yourself I Will remember my dreams... make sure that this is your thought, "right before you fall asleep"

      Yeah, like I know when THAT will be! If I knew that, I'd be doing a WILD, but oh well.

      And then, how about telling yourself "I will wake up from my dreams directly." Wouldn't one have to be lucid in order to tell oneself, while in a dream, I WAKE UP NOW!?! If you can tell yourself to do things while dreaming, why do you need advice on how to lucid dream?

      On days where I am going to school, I useally fall asleep after 15 minutes. Even less sometimes. When it's holiday, my sleep-pattern often screw up, and I end up going to bed like 4 in the morning and then sleep for 12 hours.

      Normally, I go to bed around 11 - 12 and get up at 7:00. I have no problem falling asleep actually, but I often tend to watch television for half an hour, before I finally try to sleep, though I don't believe that it helps me. I just like all the science programs and such

      About 10-15 minutes. I just lie on my side and stop thinking of stuff.

      Used to take me an hour to go to bed, but now I&#39;m much more relaxed after meditation, so it only takes about 30 min sometimes less if I&#39;m on my usual sleep cycle, i&#39;ll fall asleep at 11 and wake up at 7

      I&#39;ve pondered on this question for some time also. It always takes me between 30 minutes to an hour
      and it&#39;s not because my mind is wandering all over the place I just simply cannot fall asleep fast. What&#39;s really weird to me is that a lot of time while I&#39;m laying in bed within that half hour before I actually fall asleep I find my mind is day-dreaming I would actually have day-dreams or dreams but I&#39;m not asleep and after I catch myself I&#39;ll sit back an think about the dream I had which adds to delaying me actually going to sleep.

      Exactly. I never know when I fall asleep. If I see mild HI at first then I know I&#39;m at least 1/3 of the way through, but that&#39;s as close as I get.

      exacly the same with me i start to think randomly and eventually forot wat i was thinking about its very relaxing

      It usually takes me around 20-30 minutes to get to sleep, sometimes longer... it depends on how much my mind has to worry about.

      Hmmm...honestly I can&#39;t tell how long it takes me to sleep. I usually "pass out" when time to sleep (maybe within an hour?)....if I maintain my biological clock.....or If I ever push off sleeping because I want to stay up and do something, my clock goes haywire and I won&#39;t sleep for hours for the next several nights. It sucks.

      Usually I can fall asleep within 10 minutes. I find if I just close my eyes and let my thoughts wander, they&#39;ll start getting really random and illogical and such.

      Usually takes me 30-45 minutes. A while back I started paying attention as I was going to sleep, I noticed some weird stages my body went through but they seem to be different from what other people have said they experience... I guess the lesson is that everyone&#39;s body/mind is different. Some people fall alseep instantly, some people&#39;s bodies can&#39;t do that.

      I&#39;m curious now, though, for you people who go to bed late and wake up early (on like 5 hours of sleep) - how does that affect your dreaming? I tend to notice the same thing - that I&#39;m not really tired - if I only sleep for like 5 hours, but I feel like that&#39;s because my body never really had time to fully recover. Also, you guys miss out on the best REM cycles. I try to get like 9+ hours of sleep at night, and I seem to get fairly vivid dreams from that, but not too many lucids.

      Normally I will fall asleep within 20-30 minutes. Only if I&#39;m not tired enough, or being disturbed by annoying noises, it will take me a long time falling asleep (1-2 hours). Fortunately my current enviroment is calm, so I don&#39;t have to worry about trouble falling asleep and sleeping.

      I&#39;d say that&#39;s about the same as me, maybe a little less. Sometimes though I can just fall asleep almost immediately, but generally it takes my mind at least the 15 minutes of wandering to get it asleep, normally 30 to 40 minutes.

      If I only get a few hours of sleep, my dreams tend to be real dark and evil. Like my subconscious is mad at me for not going to bed earlier or something.
