      Twitching to Seizures

So I think twitching is probably normal while sleep, but when you twitch so hard that you go into a seizure is that normal??

Why I wouldn't go to a doctor: Because there is no sense in getting worked up about something if you don't know all the facts. Seriously, if I haven't already researched and tried a million different things, then the doctor will. Then the doctor will have to charge me for all the crap he does, when almost none of it will work until he finds the solution.

Other than that, I don't see the sense in going to a doctor unless I have a disease or broken bone. They are probably just going to tell me its some mental thing and I need therepy or something.

      Perhaps you do need therapy?

Now why would you say that? I occasionally have seizures and I'm automatically needing therepy? I'm smart enough to know when I need to go to the doctor. I'm just making sure that I don't have to pay the doctor many dollars until I find possible causes of this problem before I consult a doctor

Under absolutely no circumstances is seizure activity normal. No offense, but that is not a good reason to not go see a doctor. Having a seizure could by a symptom of many diseases. You are putting yourself at risk for unrepearable brain damange, not to mention how unsafe if you were to have one while driving. Trust me, a simple CAT scan can rule out the most dangerous, and then you and your doctor can go from there. I wouldnt put my two sense in except that I work in the healthcare field, and I couldn't NOT comment. Please talk to your doctor.

You have seizures on an occasional basis? Are they grand mal seizures? (These are the classic whole-body-shaking seizures which ultimately leave you physically drained and often unconscious.)

I'm no doctor, but the things I'm aware of that cause grand mal seizures (besides the obvious ones, e.g. drug overdose) are epilepsy and brain tumors. In the latter case that is obviously something you would want to address.

If the seizures are epileptic then the only real problem is the seizures themselves. While seizures are not usually harmful in themselves (swallowing your tongue, while possible, is rare), having a seizure while driving, taking a bath, etc. could be potentially deadly.

      Doctors can prescribe anti-seizure medications.

Also you're probably correct that they will want to run lots of medical tests on you, CAT scan, MRI, EEG, etc. When I had a handful of grand mal seizures in middle school they gave me the works. There's a pretty good chance that they won't find anything wrong with you, but I think it's important that they check just in case since it could potentially be serious, and if you have health insurance then it shouldn't be prohibitively expensive.

I don't want to tell you how to run your life but it seems to me that by putting it off you have a lot to lose and not much to gain.

My seizures aren't from epileticness (haha weird spellage). As far as me and doctors know, I'm perfectly healthy and what not. They aren't too sure about my 'mental stability' though. Craziness sort of runs in the family. I'm a very open and sociable person, but at the same time I go into these trances of feeling attacked and I get all timid and whatnot. Okay trances was a bad word... not like I zone out, but I all of the sudden have a change of... of...... mindset. A change in the way I'm thinking. The doctor/psychiatrist thought it was because of a 'split personality' but I'm aware of it. So they decided that there's nothing wrong with me. (this is like 2 years ago by the way)

But the seizures I have now, they aren't often, but when they happen, right before they do, and right after they do, I get more into that anxiety attack feeling mindset. Its weird. I'm thinking its just because I get so OCD sometimes about things that I tend to get all this 'anger' and 'OMG ITS NOT CLEAN' all built up inside of me (because I hide it, mostly so people don't think I'm crazy or... I donno... anal... or egotistical (that's how I lost everyone who I called friend, haha lame excuse but its true)) But yeah, since I hide it all, I think the seizures are when it all comes out.

Haha, that is the way I see things when I don't feel attacked and shit. See how much smarter I am when I'm not putting myself under pressure?! Yeah, I was all 'crazy' when I first wrote this messagie thing.

Hugs are lies disguised as friendships that never tell you that they won't last.

And that is why I think the doctor wiould probably just send me to therepy. Because when my parents sent me there, the therepist/psychiatrist also said that I just need to make more friends. I mean yeah, I have some.... but they are my boyfriend's friends. They are cynicle, sarcastic, racist (I'm just one of the lucky natives that they actually like), and boys. Since I'm a girl, I like talking to girls occasionally about girl things. Haha, but that never happens. I don't mind my bf's friends though they are cool and fun... but they really suck at doing nails haha.

We had a competition to see who could paint them better.... haha that was really bad

Huh? I'm a very humorus person.... just when it comes to little friendship things like that I'm very serious. I like anyone till they give me a reason to not like them. I'm possitive thinking to everyone until they give me a reason not to. However, I do not trust them with my feelings of affection or anything like that until they think I'm worth it.

Haha, I'm actually really funny, (in person I'm better at it though) but I've just had a fucked up childhood and a lot of fucked up friendships. So I'm insecure about friendshipness...

I completely hear you. I have had some really fucked up friendships and some even more fucked up relationships. I am a cool kind of guy and really laid back but now en days I feel like crap because I feel like none of my friendships were ever real and that I am not really going anywhere looking for the approval of others.

But I always try to be positive and funny but latel guess I'm just in a wierd funk.

Remember Eazy E from NWA? He thought he had strep throat, but it turned out he had the HIV virus. Then six weeks later he died.

      ...Think about that...

And how did this thread turn into a huge problem session? 'Gothgirl Michelle', you asked for someone's opinion, several people gave it to you, while also giving you advice, but you reject it outright, and you're being super defensive. I have some news for you: SEIZURES AREN'T NORMAL. My advice? GO SEE A DOCTOR AND STOP BEING A BABY. If you just wanted attention, why didn't you just ask?

What the hell was that? So I act defensive and reject people telling me to go to a doctor until I've tried enough shit out that I know what the problem is. I don't think that's being a baby, and I'm not wanting attention. If I wanted that I'd go be a little bitch and just start talking to everyone around me and complaining about everything. However, I think that's retarded, so I don't do that, neither will I ever do that.

They're right. I am having sleep seizures too, not grand mal seizures, lesser seizures and twitching and headaches at night. There are serious complications that can occur from these, and I really need to see a doctor too. It's expensive and I'll admit I've been procrastinating. But I do know I don't have a tumor, as I had a CAT scan done already at least. Brain damage can also cause seizures, and if it is epilepsy, that can cause issues of it's own, disturbances in your sleeping patterns, even if you do not know about it, that will appear like symptoms of narcolepsy. So you could just crash suddenly.. I've read into it and you really ought to read about sleep seizures and the different types of seizures, but go see a doctor too. If you have brain damage, a tumor, or something similar, you'll want to catch it as early as possible. If you have epilepsy, they can treat it so you don't have more seizures, and feel more rested during the day.

When you do see a doctor, be prepared to follow through with the tests, and have someone who can give you rides for awhile, as you're driving priveleges will probably be taken until they've examined the cause of your seizure and have effective treatment to assure you are safe to drive.
      well wishes,
      lily
