Awake/Sleep, but still under Sleep Paralysis?

I don't know if that is possible, but that seems to happen to me quite often. It seems I have this ability to bring myself out of dream paralysis by gathering my energy and twisting my neck. Now after saying this there are several times where I believe I am laying down(wherever I was laying down when I went to sleep) and it is kind of creepy. I can't move any part of my body, my eyes are open and I am usually staring up at the ceiling, not only that but I can hear conversations going on and hear other things going on in the background.

      Here is a example:
One time went to sleep on a couch and I had the fan running; I go to sleep then I seem to wake up and I am staring at the ceiling and the fan is running just like it was before I went to sleep it is even light outside. I hear someone talking and cooking, I can't remember if I could smell it(this happened a few years ago). I could not move any part of my body as if I were paralyzed, at that time I knew how to wake myself up so I just used my technique and woke myself and I found out that someone was cooking downstairs and they were talking on the phone.

Is this possible? Was I asleep? Half-sleep/awake? Why does this happen?
It would be great if you guys could help me out.

      TIA

      Isolated Sleep Paralysis

Yes, it's very possible. You were asleep...your eyes weren't really open, you were hallucinating...but you were aware of your surroundings. It's not a serious medical risk, and it happens to a few people. Sometimes it's triggered by changes in sleep patterns, irregular sleep amounts, and overall lack of sleep. This NOT to be confused with regular sleep paralysis in that it(sp) occurs at a lesser rate.

Thats pretty cool....in a weird way.
Thanks for that information, I am going to look that up. I usually never go to sleep at the same time, and I sometimes tend to get a few hours of sleep.

I appreciate your help. BTW I see we both like Deadpool (looks at your avatar).
