Should I install security software on a virtual OS?

Or will my host OS protect it?

Well... depends. What are you using it for? And if you have shared folders. And what OS you're host is. And if you plan on reverting to a snapshot every now and then. If you're not sure, just put Microsoft security essentials on it. Not a huge resource whore, and a very nice Anti-virus.
