    Thread: Stupid ipod won't reset or turn off.

      Question Stupid ipod won't reset or turn off.

      My stupid ipod (classic) froze when I connected it to my laptop, and now it's stuck on the 'Do not disconnect' screen. I disconnected (cos it won't charge / sync/ eject) and now its just sat until the battery runs out. I tried to do the rest thing which usually works (holding menu and play for ten secs)


      Booooo why won't it do as I tell it to?

      Unless you can manage to reset it you have a very expensive paperweight. Happened to a 64gb iPod touch I had some time ago.

      Which is part of why I don't fuck around with apple products.

      Indeed, my ipod used to just start some kind of process where it did this, just wait it out. Sometimes twice. It should work though .

      I left it on all night, the next morning the battery had gone flat, I charged it up and now it's playing nice again.


      Yes! Captain Beefheart here I come.

      Hope it's not on it's way out tho...80GB of music on there!

      You don't reset an iPod simply by holding play and menu, you also have to flip the lock/unlock switch a couple of times. That might've been why you couldn't reset it.

      I've always reset it that, normally works. But I did try toggling the hold button but that didn't work either this time.
